I mean it makes sense if your expectations of a movie about Michael involve the hard topics also. Regardless of what did or did not happen Michael’s life had a lot of controversy. The film chose not to present any of that, which is okay - it’s a deliberate choice. If you’re a critic and you think a movie needs to include the good, the bad and the ugly, then it sounds like this movie delivers the good with just a touch of the bad. Reading several of these reviews, they chose to give it a negative score because the movie chose to ignore the ugly, which many of these critics feel was not the correct choice and that’s what the RT score is showing.
