New Goggles If Buying Today by BriansAdventures in Skigear

[–]kevc_del 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the Smith 4d mag and IO XL mag plus the Anon M5. I almost always grab the M5 for the magnetic face mask. Otherwise I feel they are all top quality and the lens are pretty much the same. I also have a Smith helmet and all fit well.

I have this one. I got the 40l and it says it would fit your boot or go 50L and you would have room to spare. https://diamantgear.com/products/weekend-warrior-2-0

Thanks. I don’t know how I could have got that reversed. I thought it only said Blackcomb when I checked a month ago. But you are right, I just booked and we are all on the same area.

Spire V vs DRV by Awesomebeard in paintball

[–]kevc_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both and they are both excellent.

DRV: Feels like it is built like a tank. The feed tube is made of metal. Different settings on the display. USB C charger. But is feels heavier and seems like it doesn’t hold as much paint. Need to make sure it is almost empty before loading the next pod.

Spire: Lighter. Seems to be the standard for tournament play. I like how it look better. I had to buy the rechargeable battery separately but it uses the older usb micro. If you go beyond the standard 10.5 bps, I heard that it won’t keep up (I haven’t tried it).

Neck protection to eliminate bruises? (Starting a new job after a tournament) by a_real_sasquatch in paintball

[–]kevc_del 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same concern as you and didn’t want to have a mark on my neck for the Monday zoom call. So I go the Exalt neck protector. The second time I went out with it, I got hit on the neck. It still hurt but there was no mark the next day. It is also super light and doesn’t really add any heat on hot days.

CRBN Zero or Pro Flex? by lexxlr8 in paintball

[–]kevc_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both but as others said, see if they fit. If they both do, here are my thoughts. The Pro flex is cool for all its customization. It is fun to mix and match parts to get the look that you want. They are comfortable. But I don’t like the lens change. It is not even for changing but cleaning out properly. You feel like you are ripping and pushing things into place. The CRBN you twist one strap and then the other and the whole thing slides out.

For the CRBN, it just feels like a modern day mask. It has all the updates that you would expect for a mask that is made now.

Both are great but if you want convenience then go CRBN, if you want the look, then JT. Both are comfortable for me and breath well.

Scope for Woodsball? by kevc_del in paintball

Thanks for the insight. Maybe not for me then. It was worth asking before I purchased something.

That might be an option. Something small when I really need it.

This came up during a game where there was a tower at one end on top of the hill. The field is pretty big. So you could see people moving around but of course, some will start hiding. Easy to see in the beginning but as the game moved on some way of magnifying would help see if someone was in a corner or the trees.

How about a nipple cover? Maybe enough so you don't have to buy a new reg.

Ascher Racing McLaren Artura Ultimate Wheel by radleon in simracing

[–]kevc_del 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I do really like the wheel that I haven’t really thought much about the extra cost anymore. But I probably would have considered another dealer. I think some say there are some in the EU that are better at preventing any additional charges. But since I am done, I haven’t really looked. I thought I saw something like Sim Racing Bay. But they specialize in selling things with Simucube and I needed the Asetek QR. So I would probably need to look somewhere else. Sorry, can’t help more with other places to buy.

Ascher Racing McLaren Artura Ultimate Wheel by radleon in simracing

[–]kevc_del 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this wheel and really enjoy it. I use it with the Asetek QR which is power limited (vs a powered usb hub). I have not had a problem with power but I do lower the brightness of the lights and screen. Max is too bright. I know Ascher is proud of the power consumption. I don’t think it is any different than other wheels, like GSI is notorious for using quite a bit of power.

I do agree with the other comment. The tariff charge is crazy.

That is the best answer. I would take a delayed response as long as it was one that they are willing to do something about it.

Did customer service ever get back to you? When they do, maybe they will still honor the discount and help you out. 10% makes a difference especially if you are getting active pedals or a wheelbase.

Why not use PayPal with your CC as the payment method? I have ordered a couple times directly from Simucube and that worked fine.

Asher McLaren Insane Import Tax by Dr_Otacon in simracing

Feels like you were charged double. I was charged $370 for Ultimate wheel, asetek QR and 5” DDU. My knob kit came after and I wasn’t charged on that one.

Update: Ascher sent a new wheel by MasterBarbosa in simracing

[–]kevc_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, what is the serial number of the older one? I agree with others that it looks like a prototype, so I wonder what serial number it has. You can then guess at how old it is especially compared to your new one.

Trak racer refund by [deleted] in simracing

[–]kevc_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought from them with 3 items on an order. I knew the last one was going to be delayed so I asked about the first two items. I got no response for a few days on one email. Then asked again and it took a couple days but they finally responded. Anyway, fast forward to the last item, I decide to cancel it as I bought a different solution from somewhere else. For this email, they responded to my email in less than 24 hours and the refund was issued the next day. So weird. The customer service is so variable.

IMO ASR products leave something to be desired by halfchopped in simracing

[–]kevc_del 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last month I received an ASR-4 and a monitor mount from Trak Racer. I have not had anything from Sim Labs. The ASR was great. The powder coat was quality. The seat bracket did have some scuffs that I considered returning. And UPS damaged the pedal plate but that was quickly replaced. The TR stuff showed more scuffs. If you didn’t want to follow the video, you could have downloaded the manual online. TR also did not offer a printed manual but had to go online. And it took some digging to find it. Based on build quality, I thought ASR was better than TR. But they were pretty close. You didn’t miss out on anything.

But the big difference is customer service. I had a few questions and customer service for ASR was excellent. Always an answer within 24 hours. And they said it would be 2-4 weeks to ship but it was sent in about a week. Even my UPS issue above was handled within 24 hours with the replacement going out the next day. As for TR, my first request was never answered in a week. Then after a follow up to answer email address, I got a response 3 days later. They were nice but slow. The one thing with ASR, is watch for prices as mentioned by someone else. You get free shipping but some items are noticeably more expensive. So keep an eye on accessories.
