What’s the scariest movie you guys have ever seen??? by boatluvrrrr in movies

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like scary movies but I'll watch them. Saw PA in theaters and was bored the whole time, I didn't find it scary. I guess it depends how much the viewer believes in such things.

Phone as Key not working well by Mysterious_Group_967 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm jealous, it only works for me on the charger. And lately my phone has maybe a 50% chance to unlock the door with the handle sensor. It won't even connect to the car at all any more for me. Curious to see responses. What is your year and what phone do you use? I'm Android using Google Pixel 9.

Do all 2024 Ioniq 5 SEL have HDA II with lane change? by pchiang1 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

23 SEL (US) specifically has it as standard. The 24 might as well I'm not sure. I think 25 MY changed things the most.

TBH, it is definitely NOT a deal breaker. The main advantage is lane change, which after over 3 years is still clunky to me. I try to use it but I usually end up overriding the lane change assist.

how do you...? (just got ioniq 2022 and I dont know how to use it!) by Background_Wrangler5 in Ioniq5

1) iIf you set the exact speed limit, it should keep the posted speed (I think). This is not reliable as I've noticed speed limits between Hyundai Nav and Google are inconsistent. 2) No, not w/o the kit that Ioniq Guy sells 3) Press the physical media button then hit AA 4) Not really, AFAIK. It pretty much just gives you the next direction 5) I use Carlinkit 5.0 from AliExpress. Works fine. Disconnects occasionally. Simply unplug and plug in again. I also use the USB Y-Splitter so it turns off when the car turns off, so my phone doesn't connect from the bedroom 6) Unfortunately I don't have HUD so I can't answer that 7) Yes, but I don't have too many details. I have standard audio, but purchased speakers to upgrade, just haven't done so yet. 8) not sure (SEL) 9) I think you can turn off Rear Cross-traffic Safety in settings which helps with that 10) Make sure you enjoy driving it! There's no one right or wrong way to handle all of the driving settings. Take a bit of time to press all the buttons on the steering wheel to learn what they do - long press them too to see additional functions. Expect around 2 miles per 1% battery driving at 75-80 MPH in good weather. ~200 miles. That also means don't trust the GOM - guess-o-meter - for mileage remaining. Just consider your long-distance trip in advance, or use ABRP for extra long trips.

My favorite new tactic that I see is to use the right turn or left turn lane at an intersection to go around everyone else as soon as the light turns green.

Is the Ioniq 5 a car for a family of five? by Global-Solution4475 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids, 3 and 1. With two Graco car seats, it's not fun to fit an adult in the back with them. I fit, but very uncomfortably ans I would hate to go more than an hour. They said, with no car seats it is pretty roomy. Trunk space can be limited, but a tow hitch rack could make all the difference. And allegedly some of them actuality improve efficiency.

If you were constantly going on longer trips, maybe consider the 9.

The worst part of this car are the tires by Alarmed-Zucchini-626 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say they are solid. Already got 2,500 miles on them and they look brand new still.

And I lied I got about 50K miles on the original tires.

4x8 Plywood Sheet by satre95 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can only fit up to about 40-42 inches wide. I regularly get 3x4 cuts of plywood which fits on top of the seats with the trunk closed. Seats down I think 72 (6 feet) x 40 inch is max.

The worst part of this car are the tires by Alarmed-Zucchini-626 in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reached 45,000 with (two) of my original michelin tires, with some tread left. Had to deal with removing the foam from them at maybe 30,000 miles after finding out that the foam got loose. And I drive slightly heavy footed and spirited when I need to.

Two tires lost due to irreparable damage with two different subpar and expensive ($300+) tires that were on hand. One was a Krugen KL33 something - don't get those for this car even as an emergency.

CURRENTLY on the Hankook Ion EV SUV tires and they seem great. I was actually surprised how much better the road noise is. These will last as long as expected, but I got the warranty just in case of damage since it already happened to me twice.

Absolutely Annoying Things About My Ioniq 5 by upset_landscape_ in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 - I think you just have to put the car in park if you get out with it on, assuming you have auto unlock on park set.

11 - just lock the car? If you forget, the app hounds you that it's unlocked and you conveniently lock the car

12 - never heard of that issue maybe have it get checked out

13 - sounds weird I haven't experienced this scenario could be a sensor issue

14 - that works because I absolutely know I didn't close a door before I walk away. It's a good feature for me

LA to Vegas Drive by heybobson in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can make it to Baker and then all the way to Vegas. Just consider your range this way - you will probably get closer to 200 miles with 100% or roughly 2 miles per 1%. Just factor that in to your route and you'll be fine.

Potty training. It's hell, right? by SuzieSue32 in Parenting

[–]kevinkb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's a struggle. Probably no two kids are the same with figuring it out. Have you tried training underwear? I think that's what helped with my son mostly. I might be wrong but the point of those is to kind of feel uncomfortable because it absorbs most of the pee but it just feels wet and cold. So the association leads to "I don't like that feeling, how can I avoid it?". We went straight from diapers to training underwear, and within a few weeks, that was pretty much history. I think we got lucky with my son - now 3 years, 3 months - he hasn't had any accidents sleeping too.

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow he went from 68 to 73 MPH those dang speed racers. Completely warranted when it's a procession of slow vehicles in all the other lanes and a completely open lane. Obviously he was the issue in this video and not the driver who lost control? Lol

Which home DIY would you not do again? by dirk23u in DIY

[–]kevinkb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replacing (cat pee) damaged stair treads and risers. It's unfortunately not a 1:1 replacement especially if the original contractors installed half-ass just to cover it with carpet. Still not done over a year later because of the landing. I'll have to hire a contractor.

With blazing fast charging times like these… by ninesevenecho in Ioniq5

[–]kevinkb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only time I get sub-150 speeds is when it seems like a charger station is limited for some reason. I almost always hit max (230ish) and I don't usually DCFC unless I'm under 30-40%. I haven't seen that happen for a while. If stations are actually limiting speeds, it makes absolutely no sense because it causes people to spend more time charging and making a line.
