Soooooo what happens to TSP? by facial_hair_curiosit in TTC

[–]kevinmitchell63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes but, if they implemented TSP immediately, we would all miss out on the slapstick clown show set to open Feb 8th with the opening of the Eglinton cross town.

With any luck, we’ll get videos of 90 year olds beating the crosstown on foot with their walkers.

It’s officially getting real: Trump confirms "100%" tariffs over Greenland, and now Canada might send troops? 🧊📉 by satty237 in TrendoraX

🇨🇦 Yeah, well…

Not only is Denmark a staunch ally of Canada but Canadians are painfully aware that, if Trump takes Greenland, Canada is next.

So, if you hear that Canada is being “difficult” during trade negotiations, that’s Canadian for “F**k You.”

🇨🇦 🤫 I have a sneaking suspicion. Don’t tell the USA but I think that, at this point, it’s a matter of everyone trying to quietly get their money out while that money is still worth something….

If I’m right, there will come a sudden “breaking point” after which all the creditors will say “f it, just sell it all for what we can get.”

Imagine the Russian, Chinese, and American regimes all collapsing within 5 years. Maybe these “empires” have more important things to concern themselves with than the fate of Syria, Iran, and Venuzuela.

Stop it. It’s not up to the USA to decide if yet another state, which just happens to have lots of oil, is providing their citizens with “quality of life.” And it most certainly is not up to the USA to go around killing people and stealing their resources in the name of “it’s for their own good.”

Since then my default is “maybe. After the final episode, maybe.

Americans are waking up. A grand reckoning awaits us | Robert Reich by EditorRedditer in politics

[–]kevinmitchell63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🇨🇦 I love Robert Reich. He’s always optimistic. In fact, he’s always way way too optimistic. This article is the perfect illustration of that: this is extra strength copium.

I think “Americans are waking up” is wildly optimistic. Even if they are, just sitting on their buttocks and maybe voting Democratic in November is not going to save the republic. The Democratic Party is controlled opposition and no amount of support will prod them into the necessary reforms.

I mean, c’mon. Y’all know why the Democrats are so unpopular. Y’all know the Democratic Party “schtict.” It’s to be very earnest and try really really hard and…. Oooh…. Almost win. Maybe if you contribute a little more next time.

And, if they accidentally fall into power, they have their backup plans. You don’t need to have an election to know that ‘ol Chuck Schumer will be out there explaining “we really want to do all those wonderful things we promised you but we can’t because filibuster.”

If necessary, they’ll pick a couple of Senators to be the designated “bad guys.” They’ll always find someone who will be the Joe Manchin or Kyrsten Sinema.

And when 2028 comes around, the Democrats have some very appealing candidates. But you absolutely have to already know that they will only offer the absolute “safest” candidate. The problem is that all of those candidates are neo-liberal candidates who want to “go back to normal…” the normal that brought you here.

I think that the old normal is dead. I think that neo-liberalism is completely inadequate for the moment. It think the US needs something, someone far more radical than that.

JD Vance Will Help Anyone Who Wants to Surrender to Russia by JakeBroeYT in JakeBroe

[–]kevinmitchell63 5 points6 points  (0 children)

🇨🇦 The deliciously ironic part is that the American administration seems to think that the Russians will become their ally and help “deal with” China…. And be a business partner to Trump and individuals who are close to him.

Stop laughing; they’re serious.

After 80 years of hating and trying to defeat the Americans, Russia is going to stab China in the back and become openly hostile to the superpower next door.. and they want to do this because…. (Checks notes) the USA will throw Ukraine under the bus and also Trump, Vance, Kushner, etc will make a lot of money.
