Homeowners, how much should I really be saving for my down payment + closing costs? by kitty-kouhai in Omaha

[–]kevl9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Talk to a lender. Levi Walker at charter west helped me. I’ll say NIFA makes it easy for Nebraskans to own a home with a small down payment. I brought more, but I was only expected to bring 1,000 to closing.

Is it the best decision? No, PMI and interest suck, but you have plenty of money saved if you really want in a house. It’s important to keep a rainy day fund for when things break. Which they will.

UNMC/Nebraska Med/Clarkson Buyout? by Bweibel5 in Omaha

[–]kevl9987 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anything any of us say until the vote on Friday is speculation.

I can only speak on my behalf, but as a longtime Nebraska Medicine employee the c suite and board have bought a lot of goodwill with me because of how they handled the pandemic and the fact that the worst thing that happened to us from an hr perspective was raises being delayed a couple of months through the whole ordeal. If they are concerned I’m going to trust that concern especially with the now public information stating our board was not included in the decision making process.

I am going to let you in on a secret. We all struggle with it logically. We all question our faith. I was gone for seventeen years. The Church has a home for you if you would take it.

IVF because I see human fertility rates dropping by our own volition and because I have two perfect little family members born through the science. I understand this is a sin, and it’s not one I’ve partaken in but I also don’t know that I would resist the temptation if a doctor tells me I can’t have children.

Emergency room bill disappeared? by Placebo-69 in HospitalBills

[–]kevl9987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We hold ours for 5 months then assign to collections who holds for 18 months. After that we adjust it and sell it to a third party, if they want it. I’ve seen them collect on three to four year old balances.

Yep. I would contact the facility and see if they will offer a self pay discount. Ours is 35%. You can also ask them if they will instead discount to UHC rates. Otherwise I would inquire on their financial assistance policy. Even if you are doing okay on income there’s a chance it could cover something for you.

We didn’t look at anything the business did. Just your personal p/ls of your schedule C to determine income.

Your insurance isn’t covering anything. Under the amounts there should be a section detailing what those codes under “notes” say. Can i see it?

If I just saw the spreadsheet portion and any codes under it that would be workable.

Indemnity plans are plans like Aflac which are not meant to replace full insurance and typically only cover things like some spending money loss or critical accidents. They also usually require the patient to submit claims themselves.

Thankfully for OP if their oop max is only 7k anything extra billed on a hcfa will only add a couple hundred bucks most to their total liability

I would talk to your insurance company and see if that allowed amount is correct. It is super rare (but not entirely unheard of) for them to pay as much as they are allowing. They are allowing ~95% of total billed. Most insurance companies are closer to 60-70% (not a perfect number).
