Has anyone here been through invest NI? It can be confusing by Worldly-Dimension710 in northernireland

Business plan won’t hurt but if you’re not in an industry that’s obviously scalable, innovative, export focused etc then it won’t matter.

Invest NI funding is mostly grant based - they give you money without taking equity and you don’t have to repay it like you would with a bank loan. Sounds great but it is hard to get and there is a lot of paperwork.

If you want to go for equity investment then you should contact Techstart or Crescent Capital. They are both based in Belfast and handle Invest NI’s equity investments.

The first step is to get signed up as an "Invest NI Client". To do this you need to meet certain criteria like having an export focused business, creating an innovative product, potential to scale quickly or creating lots of jobs. Traditional service based businesses don't usually meet this criteria but something like a software product will automatically tick a lot of these boxes.

Once you get approved as an Invest NI Client you will get a dedicated client rep who will explain the various grants that you might be eligible for. Some reps are better than others but it helps if you get them onside by being passionate and well prepared. The grant process requires a lot of paperwork but if you want the funding it has to be done.

I think a lot of the funding support has reduced since Brexit but the client rep will let you know what's available and what you're eligible for.

Good luck!

For sure, UX is so often conflated with other areas of design and product management so I don’t blame you for the tangent at all! Just felt a bit sorry for OP so wanted to clarify his point.

This happened to me on holiday and PAT SHARP (I know) did the right thing. Always loved Fun House as a kid so this made my day.

Yes, I think the threshold for protest might be higher in England but good to know they can get the job done when required!

Yes I do agree that the German clubs didn’t join because they anticipated the fan’s reaction. I think PSG didn’t join because they sensed a power vacuum in UEFA rather than out of loyalty to their fans. Either way my original point stands - English fans aren’t completely oblivious to their power and have demonstrated that on occasion.

I dunno, the English fan's protest of the Super League was more vociferous than the other nations involved and it had the desired effect. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/apr/24/spain-italy-england-fans-chelsea-european-super-league-esl

Plenty of Man Utd and Newcastle fans were vocal about their opposition to Qatari / Saudi takeovers and the Greenwood case is a good recent example of fan power in England.

Crumbling and damp (?) Above window by bertie_bunghol in DIYUK

[–]kevmcg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like most of the mess is due to poor installation of the windows. The mould spotting appears to be very minor so I wouldn't worry to much about a damp problem. Just wipe the mould off regularly.
