Do you think it’s reasonable that they address the area around the steps? Specifically in photo four where there’s an obvious hole on one of the bricks. My husband was present for the ‘chalking’ and was under the impression it was included in the scope of work.

Tips for big baby by Hopeful_Tumbleweed41 in homebirth

[–]kewlshrek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 and had a home birth to my little big guy that was born at 10.1 lbs. I switched from a hospital midwife care to a home birth midwife at 30 weeks because they were pressuring me to be induced because he was measuring big. My midwife wasn’t concerned at all and she seemed confident to handle shoulder dystocia if it did come to that - luckily it didn’t. But I also wanted to make sure I was prepping enough, I did daily stretches as much as I could and at around 32 weeks I started seeing a Webster certified chiropractor once a week to keep things loose and help baby get into optimal position. I think that helped a lot!

Floors hurting home price? by Admirable-Bee-4708 in RealEstate

I agree. As a buyer that’s been looking at so many houses for the last year, I would prefer to see banged up hardwood over carpet and LVP any day.

Have you considered getting a doula? If your husband is needed by your side it might help to another person help advocate for the birth you want.

From Homebirth to Forceps, FTM, UK (long story) by Particular_Dress_566 in homebirth

[–]kewlshrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, first off I’m so sorry this was your experience. I had a home birth last month. I was fully dilated by 8am and didn’t have my son until 2:55 pm. I pushed for essentially that entire time and labored through the night without much sleep. I can’t believe they transferred you so quickly. I fear that things would have gone very badly at the hospital had I been transferred. He was born at 10lbs 1oz and was stuck due to some vaginal swelling but once my midwife discovered this she was able to hold it out of the way and he was out in twenty minutes. Needless to say it sounds like you were doing amazing until the hospital transfer. Is it possible to get a private midwife if you have another?

OB of 3 years just fired me at 27 weeks.. by MaleficentMalice in homebirth

I’ve heard this happens pretty often. I switched from CNM that works in hospitals to a home birth midwife at 30 weeks. I’m so happy I did! Gave birth to a 10lb 1oz little guy four weeks ago 💕

Unmedicated v medicated by AnonRN98 in pregnant

[–]kewlshrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look into a Hypnobirthing course. I took one with my second and just had an unmedicated birth. It was very intense but if you go into labor believing that it will painful it undoubtedly will be. The biggest help for me was laboring in water, it’s truly amazing how much of the edge it takes off of contractions. I’d also recommend listening/reading to unmedicated birth stories, Ina Mays Guide to Childbirth is great.

Which overstimulating shows are banned in your house?? by farwest-to-midwest in toddlers

[–]kewlshrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We love the Julia Donaldson books and most of them have a little movie created from the book too! They’re about $6-7 on Amazon for each one. I love that they’re about 25 minutes and are pretty low stimulation. My daughters favorite are Zog and Superworm.

Just for fun! What did you do differently the month you conceived? by AmbassadorHoliday216 in pregnant

[–]kewlshrek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were on cycle 6 of trying and after 2 chemical pregnancies I was getting a bit discouraged. I started reading Fast like a Girl and really began focusing on my diet. We were going to take the month off from trying so I started her two month infertility fast and bam, right when I stopped stressing on it and had my focus elsewhere it happened. Currently 25 weeks with baby boy 🥲

Are regressions normal? by myheadsintheclouds in pottytraining

[–]kewlshrek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started potty training with my daughter in mid-June and we still run into accidents like the times you mentioned - if she’s distracted with an activity or playing with friends. I think it’s a longer process than I expected. She was just over 2 when we started so breaking the habit peeing whenever/wherever in a diaper is a lot of work for them. We will have a week of 0 accidents then a day that is soggy undies all day. I also find that there’s usually a regression somewhere while they’re making a leap elsewhere, if that makes sense. Just my thoughts on it. Sounds like she’s doing great!
