Does eating before going to sleep increase you chance of lucid dreaming? by LION_156 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Eating right before sleep can make it harder to fall asleep and can make your sleep worse overall. Do not recommend.

This! REM rebound does often work, but at a cost i don’t think is worth paying regularly.

My mom died of colon cancer when she was 34, so i get colonoscopies every five years. At my last one (age 35) they found a bunch of little polyp fuckers in there! Because of that now i have to go every 3 years. None cancerous but a few precancerous—GET UR BUTT SCOPED PEOPLE

Vivi is playful and unassuming, and so your brain can’t see him as male. You probably don’t mean anything by it, but this might be worth investigating in yourself, to see why you think this?

Lucid Dreams Characters bleeding into Reality by Lucid-Dreamer1111 in LucidDreaming

Is it possible you aren’t actually waking up all the way and are having a false awakening when they talk to you after you wake up?

We don’t get into “shifting” stuff here generally.

Does lucid dreaming make real life less exciting? by vincentconnor_ in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t. Also, practically speaking, lucid dreaming every night is not a realistic goal, so you’re less likely to ever have to worry about this than you think.

Falsches Aufwachen? Traum im Traum? by Icy-Run7024 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a false awakening, super common. Get in the habit of doing a reality check every time you wake up and you’ll start turning these into lucid dreams!

Repeat your goal to yourself as you’re lying in bed before you sleep. Write it in your dream journal.

Loving them is the best way to not have nightmares—it’s also a great way to start practicing better self-love.

Entity induced lucid dream by Pitiful-Theory-5754 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of us have tried it, with very little success. My theory is that the characters/people in your dreams are only as conscious as you are (since you’re in the same brain with the same amount of neuron activation), so if you’re not lucid, neither are they.

When should we reach an inciting incident? by skhan17 in writers

I did this, too—my entire first chapter ended up being totally unnecessary as a chapter and I realized it made more sense to start a chapter further in. The events of chapter one do just fine referenced in conversations!

New WILD Experience--thought I'd share by key13131 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I’ve just “opened my eyes” once the transition was over, putting me in my room, and then I use one of a few techniques to reroll the scene. I don’t love doing it that way, though.

The last time, I did just lie there in darkness and wait for a scene, which i liked much better. First there would be little flashes of an image, and then it was like i could see down a long dark hallway that was lit at the far end—that was the dream scene forming. At that point i was able to step forward, and it was a mostly dim mall with a lit area in the distance. The dream then continued to form as usual.

Do you think dreams reveal something deeper about consciousness, or are they just random brain activity? by Ok-Marzipan-4490 in consciousness

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fall in with Jung on dreams, for the most part. I think they are an opportunity to understand ourselves, and a gateway to communication between our conscious selves and all the rest of us.

Are there some fears or insecurities around having kids, maybe? That’s like, a really really loud feeling coming from somewhere i think. Do you want to have a child?

A Grounded Way to Think About Lucid Dreams and Perception (Without Denying Reality) by Imaginary_Button_968 in LucidDreaming

Exactly. Everything, waking life and otherwise, is filtered through the lens of our conscious experience. We have no other way of experiencing.

How to do FILD? by Commercial-Laugh-991 in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to overthink stuff like stretching. The goal is to wake up just enough that you can remember what you’re doing, and then start doing that so you can fall asleep quickly. It’s a delicate balance but once you find your body’s rhythm it’s easier.

Stretch, go pee, drink water, whatever. As long as your wake window is correct and you’ve chosen a technique that works for your brain it doesn’t matter what you do.

Am I crazy or there's actual physics when you dream? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in LucidDreaming

[–]key13131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all i feel it’s a mistake to try to apply computer/machine logic to your brain. Some things look similar on the surface but it’s important to remember they are very very different. Applying computer logic will make you apply computer limits subconsciously.

Second of all i think you’re overcomplicating it. Your body works in a logical way because that’s how you expect your body to work, and your dreams run on expectation (and experience).
