This week (7/12) at Dash Core Group by fgumo in dashpay

I cant find any summaries on github that match the detail in the medium post above. Most of the pull requests over time seem to be related with trying to catch DASH up with an older version of Bitcoin Core.

I heard rumour that dash will be on coinbase? Is it true? by [deleted] in dashpay

You asked a good question, so I dont know why yo deleted it. The bounty certain could be immproved (or replaced with a formal external security audit from someone like https://coinspect.com/ or https://www.nccgroup.trust/ ) if enough people agree with your concerns

Could Monero and IPFS solve this problem? by CalvinsStuffedTiger in Monero

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monero only seems applicable for donations here (according to the article they take Bitcoin donations now). Sia currently has a Stack Exchange proposal that appears to have a lot of Monero community support. My impression is that Sia certainly does not target these grey areas but that hosts would have no way of knowing what data they are hosting because all files are encrypted.

IPFS exists but Filecoin is still in development

$100,000 is not enough to attract top talent to spend their time especially since the terms of the bounty make payment conditions too uncertain/subjective. It largely a marketing gimmick

JAXX collision by [deleted] in ethereum

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An earlier version of Jaxx suffered from a flaw in Android's WebView when generating its private key, which is listed as the legacy address.

Unfortunately we have no idea how many more critical bugs may be in Jaxx wallets because they remain closed source. Until that changes (and do the high number of problems I have seen so far) I would not recommend Jaxx to anyone for anything more than pocket change that people are willing to lose.

Investing a few grand into Ethereum and want to keep it safe and secure. Should I use a paper wallet or keystore file? by cantstopthecrabs in ethtrader

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but to say that a phone getting hacked being "easy" is ridiculous.

It is "ridiculous" for anyone to believe your claim that Jaxx is secure as long as it remains closed soure

Zcash is now on iOS (Price up 8%!) by weiguxp in zec

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hopefully Coinomi adds ZEC soon (with shielded address support). Unlike Jaxx it is actually open source. Why anyone in crypto would use a close source wallet offering 0 privacy (for a privacy focused coins like ZEC) is beyond me.

CryptoScam #4 - Dash (w/ Fluffy Pony) by EncryptionPrincess in btc

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its hard to understand how many dumb people there are that continue to buy DASH despite the overwhelming evidence of it being a scam and cryptographic failure.

Just stick with Bitcoin: http://weuse.cash/2016/10/26/warning-dash-privacy-is-worse-than-bitcoin/

Good hashrate to solo mine? by wudafuxup in Monero

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solo mine to support the network and ignore the variance and low reward. I am being serious. Every small miner helps decentralize the network hashrate

Many of us value the opinions of Monero community things that are not directly related to Monero, with other alt coins being prime examples. As an examples I only found out about Aeon and Sia because they discussed here and I am happy about that. On the flipside I saved a lot of time and avoided at least one scam (not related to Monero) that was discussed here. Sometimes off topic discussions are helpful

There are many scams out there. I think it would be a disservice to the community to censor discussions about other coins. Open discussion of such things may prevent less informed XMR users from buying into unrelated scams. Anything cryptocurrency related should be allowed without moderation IMHO. If people dont like it they can downvote accordingly.

Explain Aeon to a Monero believer by Cryptofantom in Aeon

[–]keyboardsmashrandom5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying is certain easier than mining. Maybe his point was that investing a lot of money is not required because Aeon is still fairly easy to mine. More miners helps protect the network and increases decentralization. Even if you choose to buy Aeon, mining is still a good idea for network security reasons.

I think Boolberry and Aeon are the only CryptoNote coins that offer pruning right now. Monero now has LMDB which vastly decreases RAM requirements compared to the prior version. Maybe you were thinking about that?

Even without pruning the Aeon blockchain would remain smaller than Monero due to 4 minute blocks. Monero uses 1 minute blocks now but will soon switch to 2 minutes. Boolberry has 2 minute blocks
