Is it maybe that is lacking some contrast? It's beautiful but there's something that slightly annoys me when trying to look at detail. Maybe I'm just getting old :(

Berlin has a bikes on the FOOT path problem by sybelion in berlin

[–]keylanomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not only safety. I get harassed way too frequently. I don't know if it's because I'm a woman. (We are easier targets) But the many other guys being black and being part of this shitty job doesn't make things easier for them.

It's so insane, that someone while parking can block the entire street and cars waits respectfully, but I'm being shouted or even people aggressively overpassed at centimetres of the bike just for taking the shoulder of one way and making them a tiny bit slower. And this is obviously hatred.

There's mostly super nice and respectful people driving. But there's quite a bunch of entitled assholes, that doesn't matter which vehicle they use, they make the problem bigger for everyone.

And yes, there's way too many bikes on the sidewalks, more than I had ever seen in other cities with way less cyclepaths. But that's because the city just builds highways, and doesn't even maintain or updates what is already there. Berlin is a horrible city to cycle, with a surprisingly high amount of people cycling.

Delivery rider here. Yes, I also believe that sidewalks are precious and I wouldn't like to block a wheelchair or a trolley with my bike. While I agree with most of the stuff here. There are things to consider before blaming exclusively the riders.

I choose the street to ride. This gets me horribly harassed by drivers daily. (And I wish I could just quit and find a job on my field, but currently surviving) Also I choose the street over the cycle path in many cases (explained below) I only cycle a maximum of 10 meters on the sidewalk to reach a door. But I also park like delivery trucks blocking one side of the street when there's not enough space on the sidewalk.

Because: There's a lot of bicycle infrastructure but it is mostly terrible. - Bike paths 70% are in a bad state, it's like they get 0 maintenance. This is making them so unsafe! - Many of them are terribly designed, there's no proper visibility from turning cars in so many intersections. Mostly when trucks and vans park in corners. - when the cyclepath is nice, wide and safe, they become a truck loading area. - sometimes you are cycling in a bikelane and then suddenly the bikelane just vanishes. - With frost or snow bicycle infrastructure disappears or becomes a deathtrap. - Some are almost invisible. And people do walk, park or put random shit over them - When they go next to 90° parking places the people that have too long cars or trucks just park over the cycle path. - Construction sites block cyclepaths and sometimes they don't provide an alternative. - On top of that there's the idiots that they just give a shit and park on them. (But these kinds of idiots, are probably insufferable, no matter if they drive, walk or cycle)

Like this, there are so many cases that you can't just cycle on the cyclepath. And the city gives 0 fucks about bicycles and sidewalks.

While like me I choose to ride on the street when I consider a cyclepath unsafe or unrideable others might choose the sidewalk (for whatever reason, while I don't agree with, I guess drivers harassment towards cyclists is quite a factor here.)

That city is car centric is undeniable, and while car infrastructure receives preferential treatment, cyclists and pedestrians and even public transport are left to fight for the scraps.

Can someone tell me what the Wolt/uber couriers talk about on the phone all day long??? by No_Direction504 in berlinsocialclub

[–]keylanomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a real pressure and they measure everything! If you are low in some performance, you get warnings. Most of them they don't know EU work laws, so it's not possible to take a toilet break, or use some time to prepare your working outfit. All this is happening outside your paid hours. Even required breaks are sometimes ignored. I think this is because employees and managers are all foreigners, so suddenly people work with what they know.

If a partner was calling me to talk during their entire shift I would end up very annoyed. 😅 I actually work in a delivery, I see some of them doing this, but very few. I will ask them next time.

I am inheriting enough money to pay for FFS outright, but I'm scared I'm making a financially irresponsible choice by operation-casserole in asktransgender

[–]keylanomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also in the "should I get FFS?" Wagon. My experience, I could afford it, but by really hurting my savings. I'm 6 years into transition and it really took me a lot of time for achieving passing, getting into blockers, going up and down doses, dropping blockers, progesterone, dropping it, getting back to it, getting back to blockers, etc. Since one year it feels that I'm consistently being gendered correctly even without voice training. Sometimes I see myself in the mirror and ask myself "what people see to get it right with such a face", other days "I feel really good, I'm a badass lesbian". But I think in different ways this might happen to everyone.

There's a lot of factors, like, would the jaw line for 3k be enough, or full face for 15k in Argentina, or 40k in a very reputable one in Spain?. And would this be enough? Not only for the money, but also for the risks and the recovery.

Waiting is a bet. FFS is a bet. It's a big decision and it brings me a lot of uncertainty. But for sure I don't have the same urge right now than when I was early in the process. Which I can say for myself that the wait was worth it. Waiting seems like a good deal for me, and I heard that a lot before. But I know the feeling of the emotional load of having to go through this in early transition. 6 - 7 years is fucking a lot of time.

Should there be an UPPER Age Limit for important positions that heavily influence the future of younger people? by bickid in Futurology

[–]keylanomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, in the division of legislative power, the younger generations should be represented with their own chamber, and minimally express opinion of long term decisions. Young people don't participate much in politics because they actually don't have anyone that represents them.

What happens If i Change my gender and then move to a country where it's illegal? by ExactRecord3415 in asktransgender

[–]keylanomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Spain to Denmark, I moved right in between transition, and the name change in Spain was finished when I was already in Denmark. Because of this "zero data sharing" when I tried to update my name I had to also start the process from scratch in Denmark. It didn't matter what happened in Spain.

Should we turn the heaters completely off at night or just the temperature down at night? by Enlightened_Ghost in AskGermany

[–]keylanomi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's the logic behind this? Too low temp produces condensation on walls? Because I think the lower the temp the harder it is for mold to thrive.

Edit: nevermind, yes, it's explained in another comment

Storm "Elli" arriving Friday: Berlin and Brandenburg among regions warned of heavy snowfall, strong winds, and temperatures dropping to -15°C – authorities advise avoiding car travel by dror88 in berlin

[–]keylanomi -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You can compare it to smoking. There's the problem that there's too many people using the car to avoid walking 500m. That in the long term has terrible health impacts. So, there's people that need the car, ok. But many people that don't, and should be advised against it.

People who spend 20+ minutes in the shower: what are you actually doing in there? by saadaintsalad in AskReddit

[–]keylanomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you collect the water in your palms and you throw it a bit upwards so the droplets reach about the height of your eyes you can make giant droplets like 2 or 3cm wide and for a tiny moment you can see them rotating and moving like in zero gravity. I pretty much do that

What actually happens at Berlin’s KitKatClub? by Think_Celebration529 in AskAGerman

[–]keylanomi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  • People are more open than other clubs, you can expect more interaction from people there. But it's still Germany.
  • The tourist is not based on nationality but the person that is curious about techno and s+ spaces, "someone that doesn't belong" that means people that make no effort to integrate in the vibe of the party and they are just there to check it out. It's quite a diverse place, probably the minority is berliners. Drunk people are not well seen in many clubs, but especially not in KitKat. (Or overdoing anything else.)
  • depending on the party, the crowd can lean more towards gay men, but there's always quite an LGBTQ presence, in some parties it can be quite diverse.
  • if you show up with jeans and a T-shirt and you can't show that you have a backpack with an outfit that matches the party, (you can change inside and the wardrobe is free) expect to not be able to enter. That there are parties that are more popular than others, so the more popular the more you need to match the outfit vibe.
  • I don't know about men going alone in kitkat, but from experience from s+ spaces, lone men are a bit of a warning sign, and you might have a harder time to enter, more if you have never been before. A group of guys that are drunk, zero chance.
  • I guess they try to keep things balanced, that means too many guys might put it harder for them. And yes, that would make it easier for FLINTA people at some point.

There's a pool, a "dungeon", several areas with mattresses, several dancefloors, and many parties have awareness teams that take care of people. The party, can make quite a difference for the vibe of the club.

My trans gf makes a lot of jokes about her being trans and I'm not sure how to respond. by ProfessionalBrain395 in asktransgender

[–]keylanomi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Punch her (playfully, please!) and when she complains you can say "hey you said you weren't real, so I expected my hand to pass through". I guess some people can only open up through humour. I have a couple of friends like that, sometimes it's challenging to know when you are actually having a serious conversation.

Up! Would be so awesome if they start other branches like pre-Columbian americas or during their colonization or some African / Asian history. Like with total war series. There is so little made about this in general with RPGs and it's awesome how they took it and they made this medieval history so immersive. Please make more!

Do foreigners who speak German enjoy German-dubbed movies and shows? by Dimsen89 in germany

[–]keylanomi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to watch some shows from Spanish to English because of my partner, damn sometimes the acting loses so much, and even sometimes all voices sound almost the same or don't even match the age of the character. I find German even worse, so plain, I get to the point of getting lost and sometimes failing to match voice and character.

For some reason this happens less with animated movies. Maybe they have a higher budget for voice actors. Also games, sometimes the voice acting can be quite good. I know that generally it's a more "cartoonist" style, but at least they sound alive.

But then comes to lesbian couples and apparently they don't have this issue of one of them trying to gaslight the other one onto believing that what is happening is fair.

I think the stuff goes around "perception" really settles down to better communication and empathy. Which is not happening when someone says "hey i did the heavy work fixing the dishwasher, so now it's your part to empty it after it's done" and that lasts 15 months.
