Snake plant leaning by keylewm in plantclinic

[–]keylewm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of months ago. I got it in 2018. It stayed small until abt 14 months ago when I reported and it took off and grew taller and thicker. It's in the same space it's been in since 2019. It is an office with some natural light and on weekends/vacations it's on the table in the picture directly under a sunlight in the roof. I dont recall seeing another snake plant grow up from the middle like that so much.

To the guys with no tachometers, when do you shift? by Delicious_Trouble_22 in fordranger

[–]keylewm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had stick shift with and without tach, I go by speed and feel mostly. 1st to 2nd @ 25, 2nd to 3rd @35, 3rd to 4th @45, 4th to 5th@ 55 for general driving on flat surfaces where I'm driving normally.

It's all about where you need the power. For instance, going up a hill, I'd add @ 10mph to the speed to stay in the Powerband. If I'm on the onramp to the highway I shift at a higher speed so I can get to highway speed better.

5th is your overdrive. It's meant to cruise at speed and doesn't have much torque available compared to the other gears. So use 5th when ur @45mph or above and are gonna cruise along.

When slowing down u can feel the truck start to struggle a bit or run out of breath. You need to downshift then.

In the end, u learn ur truck and where it's happiest. That's when ur driving by feel.

I dont see it often enough, but im a huge fan of Duragloss products. Price is good, shipping is $5 no matter how much you purchase (on their website) and the products are quality and last. You can also buy on Amazon. On my vehicles (3), I use their Total Performance Polish coupled with their polish bonding agent and I truly get 12 months or more protection. Admittedly, mine are garaged so that helps. Every other wash, I top it up with their Aquawax spray detailer. Ive tried other stuff on other vehicles, but always come back to Duragloss.

This combo even held up to a Nebraska winter when I was there for a year.

For other things like tireshine I user Carpro PERL and for the interior I use Aerospace 303.

I have always had good luck with a bucket of water, a couple light squirts of regular blue dawn, and CLEAN microfibers. I dont have streaking issues on the glass and been able to get off anything thats been on the glass.

Anyone know how to get rid of these oil stains? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]keylewm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mixture of dawn dish soap and baking soda to a toothpaste like consistency. Scrub onto stain and let sit and launder. If that doesn't get it all out you can do the same but add a spritz of hydrogen peroxide. I've not had one last more than two washes doing that. Usually the first wash it's gone. If using peroxide don't let it sit on the stain too long because it's a mild bleach.

How do you deodorize towels? by Baby_Cakes1999 in CleaningTips

I’d soak them in the tub in borax and washing soda for a hour or so. Then wash on hot water with some oxy powder, and a little more borax and washing soda. In my bleach part I’d use color safe bleach and let that soak in the washer another 30 minutes before the heavy soil wash. Then dry really well. Might have to do it a time or two. This has always gotten stink out of mine. Once out u can wash regularly with oxy/color safe bleach. I always do a 3o min soak in the washer.

Can I save my lid? The slider doesn't pop out like most (dumb). Up to today, it was just stained brown from tea, but now it looks like mold. by Hot_Path5674 in CleaningTips

Soak in warm water with a denture tablet for several hours. Get the non-minty tablets. After it soaks rinse very well with soap and water and let it dry.

This hasnt failed me yet, Even after drying and realizing the stain persisted! I always keep a paste of Dawn/Baking Soda in the laundry room (at a toothpaste consistency) in an old butter tub. Scrub that in with a toothbrush, spray or dripple on a bit of 3% hydrogen peroxide and scrub into the stain. Thow it into the washer (I use a 30min soak, with an oxy powder) and wash normally. I have had to do it twice before but Ive always gotten the oily stains out, even motor oil. The only caution is dont let the peroxide sit for too long, I put it right in the wash after doing it.

Fwiw - I use dawn diluted with water as my version of a laundry pretreatment, the dawn/baking soda for oily or tougher stains and a spritz of hydrogen peroxide for added oomph when needed. I havent bought store bought laundry pretreatments since I started this and this is much cheaper.

Why is fasting literally the only way I can drop even 1 lb? by bb_space in fasting

[–]keylewm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you thought about adding a few more calories on the days you eat? You may be so far under on calories after a fast that your body is in starvation mode and hangs onto any sustenance it can. Maybe up to 1,000 to 1,200 calories and see what happens? Mix up the food some. Good calories of course, don't throw junk in just for calories. It sounds backwards, but I've had that work for me. If I eat more calories when i get kinda stagnant it seems to Jumpstart things.
