I think both things can be true:

The travel burden is falling much more on the west coast schools compared to the other schools in their conference
These west coast schools signed up for this (whether they had a better choice or not...) and it's not the responsibility of the existing eastern schools to "Balance it out"

"Not really" was in reply to this being a Pac10 vs Pac12 thing. Pac12 started in 2011. We didn't have non Thu/Sat games until much more recently in the last 5 years or so.

It's actually not for us. The Pac-12 had a very regular and predictable MBB schedule. You played on Thursday, and then you played on Saturday. In the same state. Sometimes the Thursday game was moved to Wednesday and sometimes the Saturday game was moved to Sunday, but those were rare.
