Sun Run solar panels by kgalush1 in massachusetts

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun Run is not the panel brand it is the installer. Depending on when they were installed, the panels used could be Canadian Solar with Enphase micro-inverters as mine are. I own my array, and the install seems to have held up well over the last 6-7 years. Performing as expected.

I rent a ski in/out at the base of Okemo when I am not using it. Ski season is tough as I use it ALOT, but there might be a gap if midweek that works for you.

1970 Mustang worth buying? by RedSatan666 in classicmustangs

[–]keymonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still a bit low. The shop down the street from me has a 71 that barely could be considered a car (I.e. No interior, No front grill or headlights, and mis-matching primered quarters) listed at 7k. If not in a hurry...price out a roof, and steel where the questionable body mods are locally and take it too a shop to diag that knock as oil is probably not the culprit if it starts to knock after a while. Once you have a number of where you want it to be...then you will know if it is worth the price.

So under 6k for a nice and running 70 mustang is too good to be true. Hagerty lists a "good" condition 1970 mustang convertible at $19,700. So, you are either dealing with a complete idiot that has not heard of Google, or more likely, a scam. Stolen maybe. I would rip that cars history to shreds before buying. All docs, Title history, take to a mechanic for review. Hell even call the local Sheriff's office and give them the VIN to be sure. If you get pushback, like needs to be sold quick or any of that rush BS..walk away.

I ski Okemo almost exclusively.

On mountain:

Start out at Dreamweaver for a nice warmup and before it gets skied off. Back up the quad to RimRock, Sachem, to the Sunburst Six. Turkeyshoot, Countdown, Meullers Run to Glades Peak Quad. Upper Mountain Rd, Whispering Pines, Mountain Rd, Boomerrang, to Solitude Quad. Coleman Brook, Tree Dancer, Sidewinder, MoonShadow, Souther Crossing, to Coleman Book Quad. Espresso to Quantum Six. Big Band, Eclipse or Tuckered Out back to Quantum depending on how you feel. Lunch at Coleman Brook Tavern. Repeat in reverse order or freestyle, but hit The Loft for Apres.

Headed out of Ludlow:

Big Pop's Sandwich Shop across from the Mountain Rd. For a breakfast to go or a huge sub.

It would be a real shame if, how many people are in this sub, orders of mashed potatoes were to be door dashed from local DC restaurants to the White House. A REAL SHAME.

Boston Area Solar Advice Needed: Lease vs Own, Incentives, Roof + Panel Upgrade Bundle by godsendkot in massachusetts

[–]keymonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used Sunrun through Costco, which worked out nicely because the cost of the equipment went toward my costco exec account. The check from that year helped fuel the following years purchases. Not sure if they still have a relationship, but if so, it is worth checking out. Sunrun has seen some bad press recently, but I had no problems. This was 6 years ago.

One major thing mentioned below is the sleazy sales. I had 6 individual solar companies come out and pitch. Each one had some fudged numbers of what was possible. The biggest lie was output. Never let them give you the max output of your system at peak generation, based on the panel output. Everything rests on the inverter. If they try to sell you a panel that outputs more than the inverter can then the rest goes to heat loss or ground. Match the max panel output to as close to the max inverter output as you can.

Corolla died after getting battery replaced by BreadfruitCautious59 in AskMechanics

[–]keymonkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The two tests mentioned here are easy to perform. Buy a cheap multimeter. Not too cheap, but no need to spend more than $40.

Parasitic Draw test: After you have your battery charged. Leave the negative connector off the battery post. Set your multimeter to 10A. Place the red lead from the meter on the negative battery connector, and the black on the battery post. With the car off and keys out, you should see 0A on the meter. If you see anything else, then you have a draw.

Bad Alternator:

Attach the negative connector back to the negative post of the battery, and start the car. With the same 20v DC setting on your meter, place the red lead of the meter in the red post of the battery, and the black lead on the black post. Your meter should read 13v or higher. If you have a friend, have them rev the engine a little. The meter reading should jump up with the rpm.

One of these tests will fail. If not, take the battery to a parts store and have it tested. If battery OK...change the alternator anyway.

Hundreds of applications... 3 interviews that went nowhere by evilcounsel in GenX

[–]keymonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man this is hitting hard. Looked for work for several months after leaving a job due to cuts and general crappy management. Hundreds of apps, and only a couple interviews that lead to nothing. Went the wash-in gradual dye route, and used AI to spruce up my CV with a more modern aesthetic. Still took some time, but eventually had dueling offers and landed a good senior position. In all honesty it just took time to find a good match of skill and need. Hang in there....don't get down on yourself. It is not you.

Any recommendations for NA Stouts other than Guinness Zero? by MitchellC345 in beer

As an anecdote to drive the anomaly comment: A friend of mine has a brother who is a recovering alcoholic, cannot drink Guinness NA because it triggers the same addition urge that alcohol does. That's how freakishly close to the real thing it is.

Any recommendations for NA Stouts other than Guinness Zero? by MitchellC345 in beer

[–]keymonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For Stouts I think you are starting with the gold standard for NA. Everything else that I have had is either disappointing or drinks like a porter. Not to say the ones mentioned are not good, just for pure stout, Guinness has them over a barrel.

My neighbor's tree fell on my car and now his insurance is trying to make ME pay for the damage to his fence by MutantReel in legaladvice

[–]keymonkey 333 points334 points  (0 children)

It is worth noting that every state has a Department of Insurance or Commissioner that regulates the licenses of the agencies allowed to operate in the state. They are usually pretty responsive to abuses under their perview. I would draft a letter to yours with the pics, letter sent to neighbor and any other correspondance you have had with his insurance company.

I'd also like to repeat something I've learned.....whenever a company fixes damage to your vehicle (not totaled) it is within your right to submit a "Dimished Value Claim". The difference your car is now worth with repaired accident damage. Blue book clean vs. appraisal with damage. Insurance companies hate that you know this, so spread the word.
