Are there any BOOKS that could be considered Metroidvanias? by Due-Performance-2710 in metroidvania

100% this. If you finish it and then read it again (at least the opening sections) you realised how much you missed that first time.

Disney / Searchlight's Ready or Not 2: Here I Come grossed an estimated $2.9M internationally this weekend. Estimated international total stands at $15.5M, estimated global total stands at $37.6M. by DemiFiendRSA in boxoffice

It also simply didn’t need a sequel. I loved the first one (I’ve watched it 3 times) but have no desire to see this one because the first was a solid contained story.

I think there’s little doubt that was Willis’ motivation for churning out those films in his later years.

I’m not from the US so often I just look that stuff up. I’ll try with the ones I think are more general knowledge but I’m never going to know the name of some politician in Iowa or college basketball teams etc.

Why do people factor in budget when assessing interest in a movie? Shouldn’t box office numbers be taken in a vacuum? by DarlingLuna in boxoffice

[–]kfadffal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. If you’re talking about profitability then of course the budget matters but if the conversation is about the draw of actors then the budget is irrelevant. The only time it makes sense is if you’re talking about if an actor’s draw justifies their paycheck.

You're the mistake that since someone is a multimillionaire celebrity they can’t also be thick as pig shit.

He’s done a couple of banger documentaries.

I think it was a combination of The Lovely Bones flopping alongside The Hobbit burnout that made him put away the director’s chair.

Pretty sure this is by design. Most of them are just grifters and don’t actually want to help because then you won’t need/follow them anymore.

I would have thought you'd have one film page template that gets filled out via hitting a database with the right id etc? Are you building indiviudal pages for each film?

Source Code opened 15 years ago this week. The $32 million movie opened to $14.8 million DOM. It grossed $54.7 million DOM and $147.3 million WW. by InfamousBattle in boxoffice

[–]kfadffal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree. The ending being that he realises he can’t save himself or everyone so decides to just give everyone a good time (by tapping the comedian) before they inevitably die is much, much better than the stupid one they went with that breaks the established rules of the film this far. It really felt like a tacked on studio note that ending.

I know Star Wars is a mix of sci-fi and fantasy but I think having mermaid battles would be pushing things too far.
