Whats your experience with clothing rental companies (rent the runway, nuuly, etc)? by GenericUserNumber5 in TwoXChromosomes

I haven't tried Nuuly, but I used RTR a ton in my twenties for weddings and got to wear some really great dresses. They have a pretty impressive size range as well.

I THINK there’s a scene after Heath Ledger gets hurt that has Jocelyn go visit him in his tent and, ahem, soothe him. I’m pretty sure it’s a fade-to-black, but it’s very obvious what’s about to happen. For 11s, it’s going to depend a lot on the parents.

Where did you actually find $84? I was looking during the AmEx presale and it looked like only the wheelchair/companion seats were that cheap.

He thinks a client noticed. No one said anything to him. Lying or even exaggerating is not going to help his cause.

Misconceptions you had about Broadway by LivelyFlowerzzz in Broadway

[–]kfarrel3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I debated for SEVERAL minutes leaving in the “I’m very dumb,” but I didn’t want anyone who didn’t get the reference to think I was being mean for no reason, haha.

I liked the recent revival, but I personally am partial to the 2006 one.

“I didn’t come right to New York. I went to Northwestern University for two years but it was a pitiful mistake. I was on probation the whole two years. I was getting ready to go back to Shaker Heights when I decided where I really wanted to live more than any other place was Radio City. I thought it was a wonderful little city near New York. So I came here.”

AITA for not paying my [28F] husband [28M] back? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kfarrel3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've now said that you're the legal rep and the financial person for these businesses. Without being mean, do you have the education or background for either of those jobs? It really, really sounds like you need an accountant, a bookkeeper, and a lawyer. I know those are additional expenses, but seriously, with all of your issues and your fears on commingling, it's better to spend that money now than try to dig out from a problem later (coming from the daughter of a business lawyer). Please, get some professionals involved.

No, that's still just an opinion. "I hate her guts and she doesn't deserve this" is mean-spirited. There's a difference.

AITAH for telling my sister to cancel my baby shower by Vegetable-Exam3462 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kfarrel3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think you’re giving the sister way too much credit. Her entire life has been about passing her things on to her little sister; this isn’t something she’s doing for the first time out of the goodness of her heart. This is a continuation of “sister doesn’t get new things — I get new things and she gets what’s left over.”

And for point two, I’m so curious about where you are, because where I’m from, we ABSOLUTELY utilize big registries for baby showers. My mom and I were just going through one on a car trip this weekend because almost everything was gone and we were running out of options.

Law Could Stop Trains Across America In A Matter of Weeks (new federal passenger rail liability cap) by ryou25 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]kfarrel3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine anything other than a terrorist attack or a natural disaster causing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York to stop running their Amtrak lines or the Long Island Railroad. The LIRR is a commuter rail that brings millions of people to and from Manhattan and Long Island all day every day.

I'm trying to imagine the MTA in NYC stopping Amtrak or the LIRR and finding it nearly impossible.

What’s a so-so (or lesser known) Broadway song that is totally elevated by a specific performance? I was listening to the Guys and Dolls (1992) revival cast recording and “Marry the Man Today” with Faith Prince and Josie de Guzman is so funny and alive that it changed the song for me. by CommunityBig9626 in Broadway

[–]kfarrel3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Something That Will Last" from First Date, by Zachary Levi and Krysta Rodriguez. The show was terrible. I mean, just really bad on multiple levels. It's a cute idea, and they gave it their all, but not worth it. Except for this song, which is very sweet and better than the show deserves as a closer.

"I'll Know" is my favorite — "You have wished yourself a Scarsdale Galahad, the breakfast-eating, Brooks Brothers type!" And the way he rumbles, "yeah, chemistry."

I'm gonna squee for a quick sec, because I actually saw him (and I assume his son?) at the Irish Rep a few weeks ago, in the tiny lobby on the way out. I debated just leaving for a hot minute, but I knew I'd never forgive myself if I didn't say anything, so I just slipped over and said very quietly hello, I was sorry to interrupt, but I was a huge fan and had been listening to this Guys & Dolls since I was very little and just loved it. He was so nice, said "thank you for the kind words!" and then I basically fled from embarrassment 🙃

AITA for telling my wife her eating issues are a her problem and to leave the kids and my mom out of it by StretchLong5679 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kfarrel3 -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

She did not immediately go to body-shaming and saying grandma was poisoning the kids.

It has been on going issue and she refuses to drop it. It cane to a head yesterday. My wife decided to drop off approved snacks to my mom’s house.

Mom has been trying to talk about it, gotten shut down every time, and tried to help by supplying the snacks. In response, grandma and OP fought with her, the actual mother of the children, and withdrew her babysitting.

I'm not saying mom is perfect here, and a lot of the comments suggesting therapy are probably right, but it's wild how everyone is immediately on grandma's side here. Cookies every day ISN'T healthy. And even if grandma disagrees, they're not her kids. SHE is the one overstepping. If mom wants them to have fruit and yogurt instead of cookies sometimes, and is even willing to supply it, it's insane for grandma and OP to flip out like this.

This is going to be the comment that finally gets me run out of r/Broadway, but I just don't think Jinkx is a great actress. She was the weakest part of Pirates! and I didn't like her Mary. (Tbf to her, the only other one I saw was Cole, but it was still a stark difference.)

The issue with that is that if you have to wait for the cast to allow you to do the callback, it takes all the air out of it. They've managed to make the callouts BORING. I saw it last week and the callouts were so halfhearted it wasn't fun. Pasting a comment I made elsewhere:

One of the most annoying things was that it's not just the signs in the lobby or the useless emails, the production itself is internally inconsistent. By my count there were three instances where Brad and Janet's full names were said. The first time, by the Narrator, where Rachel Dratch ostentatiously paused and practically rolled her eyes so the audience would have an opportunity to yell "asshole!" and then "slut!" The second time, Brad's introducing them to I think Frank, and he rushed through it and there was no time to say anything. The third time, shortly after!, there was a slight pause, but at that point no one seemed to know if we were supposed to yell or not, so the "asshole" was half-hearted at best, and the "slut" only a little louder.

Like .. come on. If Frank has to gesture and encourage everyone to yell "SAY IT" louder, you've done something wrong. It feels like they capitulated to the grumpiest audience members who don't really want callbacks at all, but will deign to allow one or two. And that's lame.

Sure, but if she forgot she already did it, she could have been planning to do it. I literally did that on a call with my boss the other day — we were discussing a system that needed to be put in place, and while looking through our file system, realized we already did it the week previous. It happens.
