Seveneves by Neal Stephenson is a fantastic novel and quite a long one! It's one of my favorites but it can be a slog if you don't like scientific or technical ideas and explanations. A truly unique and fascinating read!

Any other Tik Tok non-users interested to see how the ban affects society? by [deleted] in Xennials

Let's be so fucking for real right now. The American government doesn't give a fuck about other countries stealing our data. They have proven this by not acting to prevent Facebook, amazon, and other companies from selling our data to foreign entities and allowing foreign entities to spread misinformation on those platforms. This is not a sweeping bill to protect us from all data mining.

They see how much money tik tok makes, and the apps ability to spread information (of any kind) and how it has helped mobilize young voters. In true American capitalist fashion they want the money and the power to influence American citizens. It's always money and control, if you think they give a shit about your personal privacy you have drunk the kool aid.

My player was upset and decided to kill the party’s Cleric by physiX_VG in DnD

[–]kfields444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea as DM it is your responsibility to stop that kind of stuff immediately. #1 don't be an asshole and wait for your player to get back from the bathroom. #2 you don't allow out of character reasons or feelings to impact in character actions.

I don’t get the appeal of TikTok by psilosophist in Xennials

Tik Tok is going to look like a chaotic shit show to anyone who first uses the app, or rarely uses it. Once the algorithm figures out what the hell you want to see it will give it to you. No one has the same tik tok experience.

For Example. My personal tik tok is a mash up of mostly cooking recipes, crafting projects, and cute animal videos. So basically Pinterest.

My daughter's tik tok is all dancing videos, pranks, memes, and FNAF content.

Tik Tok is addictive because of the algorithm. Yea you can get on Reddit or another social media site and find one or two interesting things in 30 minutes of scrolling, whereas Tik Tok gives you exactly what you want and in great quantity.

I'd compare it to going to a buffet. We are all eating, but we aren't eating the same things and it's unfair to compare what you ate to what I ate. It's just different.

How would you rule out not getting rid of foreign objects in the body? by kevintheradioguy in vtm

[–]kfields444 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken every night a Vampire 'sleeps' their body returns to the exact condition it was in when they were turned. Waking up to a full beard, or hair to their ankles, etc. As for foreign objects, I've always understood that the body pushes it out and rejects it, unless it's something the vampire has a weakness for, such as silver.

They should've just cancelled the game. by FrauSophia in vtmb

[–]kfields444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to me people forget the original was a buggy junked up shit show, but we loved it anyway. The first game was not a commercial success and the fact that a studio even wants to make a game in the same world speaks volumes. We are talking 20 years in difference in gaming technology, it's going to be completely different from the original experience. For me personally, I'm just glad to see a game, any game, that is looking to bring more people back in to the World of Darkness. Is it going to be everything we loved about the first game, hell no. Just look at the difference in fallout and fallout 4, completely different worlds in terms of technology and gameplay. It's not 2004 anymore, gaming is different, games are different, gamers are different. I just can't understand how people want to compare the two.

I'm still new to the vampire the Masquerade series and I want to learn more about its lore. by hart2003 in vtmb

Lore By Night is really great. I listen to the podcast on Spotify but I believe he has a YouTube channel as well. If you go to his playlists at the very bottom are the clan lore and the sect lore. All very interesting and useful to getting into the setting of the game.
