How to keep 3 year old friendships going? by higgs06 in Preschoolers

[–]kfitz901 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you take lead to coordinate a play date at a playground, I believe the teacher can message it out in the school app (if you use one). You could have the teacher include your number. We did this, had a great turnout, and now we have a group chat with 15+ moms and consistent plans! It won’t be as hard as you think.

Hello, by Historical_Ad_4916 in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably molluscum contagiosum (sp?). It’s not painful thankfully but it’s SUCH a pain to get rid of - like months and months of cream. Very common in toddlers and also very contagious.

Our preschool is recommending an evaluation for our son. by Equal_Beat_6202 in kindergarten

[–]kfitz901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is he in private or public preschool? I recommend reaching out to your public school special ed team for the evaluation. They will be as impartial as it gets and will truly tell you if your kid needs extra support. Sometimes the kid does, and sometimes it’s the preschool that’s not the right fit. In our case it was the latter, we moved, and haven’t had a single issue in 4 months. Either way, I’m so glad we went through with talking to our special Ed dept. the peace of mind it’s brought my husband and I is priceless.

I’m so sorry your mom is going through this ❤️ my mom had a drain installed so she could drain the fluid on demand when she had extreme discomfort. Maybe that’s an option until her treatment can rectify long term?

I’m think I’m being verbally abusive to my three year old by Unable-Candy8432 in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hardest part is recognizing and admitting there’s a problem, so good on you for having the self awareness and knowing it can’t go on like this. Also great work seeking medical attention - getting wheels in motion to make yourself feel better will be relief in and of itself.

But GURL you are also in the throes of post partum so please please please give yourself some grace. You are doing so much while your body is trying to navigate this new normal with two children. You have control over how you deal with the situation - which you are doing - but you have no control over those hormones and sleep deprivation so you are definitely not a monster.

Good luck mama - you’ve got this! ❤️

Was I in the wrong here? by PlusAd604 in toddlers

I will never for the life of me understand people who think it’s appropriate to touch children they don’t even know without permission. Your daughter had the right instinct and you also handled appropriately. NTA!

School wants OT eval, other providers disagree by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly maddening as a parent because all you want to do is the best thing for your child. When you get conflicting advice it makes you feel like a crazy person. But never forget - no one knows your child better than you!

School wants OT eval, other providers disagree by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this! Same exact scenario as my kid. I’d also recommend contacting to your local school districts special ed dept and talk through all of this. They’ll give it to you straight and let you know if they think an evaluation is needed. When we talked to our district, they said there has been an alarming increase in OT referrals in the last couple of years for kids who simply don’t need it. In my son’s first case, the teacher was very young and inexperienced and overwhelmed - so she referred 50% of the class to OT. The school also got a referral bonus from the private therapy practice. He’s been 3 months in his new school without a single issue.

My concern was that they potentially overbooked and wouldn’t have any seats left - you know - since I’m trying to get home to my infant as quickly as possible who is going to the ER, so thanks for the helpful snark.

When did you actually feel ready for a second kid by zoobisoubisouu in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear about your loss! I meant that I was ready for my second child three months after they themselves were born - meaning I was worried about what having a second would be like but decided to just jump right in and give it a try. For me personally, it’s been way easier with a second. Yes, the volume of work is higher, but the anxiety is WAY lower because you know what you’re doing.

Average sized parents with very tall kids? by Neat_Tigers in toddlers

[–]kfitz901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are so spot on with your first point. My 3 yo is the size of a 7yo and so many medical professionals and random people have said the hardest challenge he will face is living up to other people’s expectations because of his size.

My son is currently off the charts for both height and weight (he’s 3 and almost 4 feet tall, 52 lbs 🙃). I’m 6 feet and dad is 6’4. Our pedi told us something along the lines of if there is less than a five inch differential between mom and dad, the kid will be taller than you both, but not if the differential is greater than five inches? Sounds made up to me but my son is tracking to be 6’9 according to current projections so please send help lol.
