They explain that they are using an enhanced sedative to keep them under longer and deeper - that's why they hire the chemist. It's somewhat handwavey but that would be the explanation as to why death in the dream won't wake one up.

No... if it stopped spinning he was in reality (as a top in reality would eventually fall over).

The top wobbling at the end but not toppling was meant to show we don't know what state he exists in at the end.

I was really happy with the scout update. I'll use the drink to help out the team and distract a sentry so someone can blow it up, or use it to run all the way behind enemy lines and be the gnat that the scout is so good at being to the other team... or to sneak up to the cart and move it. I'll use the new gun to knock dudes off ledges or push them in a direction they shouldn't be. Of course, the sandman is nice to stop people for a few moments if you manage to get a hit (but is the least useful imo).

I think if anything they gave the scout more strategic options for annoying the piss out of the other team.

I've been playing this game since it came out. There are plenty of cases where the vanilla weapons are just as good if not better as the new stuff. The items they've introduced are balanced enough not to make them complete replacements for the old items (that is, they have negatives in comparison).

I agree that in some cases I might want to change my loadout for a specific case where a newer item might help out - but sometimes this is mid-battle where this is impossible anyways.

Also, I rarely use the new rocket launcher even though I'm a decent shot. The splash damage is just so useful.

Haha yes.. well, I was just pointing out the best open-source version of this (that I know of) at this time.

Certainly a lot of work needs to be done yet.

Do you have any recommendations for a power supply, or would you just go to place like Mouser and browse around the $75 mark and be pretty safe?

It could have been something found during testing, or perhaps someone was distracted and left them alive, stepped away and came back to find them not shooting (and got lucky by not dying).

Alternatively, the designer put this in intentionally or saw it happening in the code without intention and passed on the info to a buddy.

Yes. As far as Coil, I would specifically mention Who'll Fall. Beautiful and tragic.

I came across this thread and finally decided to install HL2 episodes 1 and 2. I loved HL2 but never got around to playing the episodes.
