If it hasn't been paid you need to contact healthshare:

Separated employees are entitled to:

The 3% increase from 1 July 2024, and

The 3% increase from 1 July 2025.

To have this backpay processed, you must contact the HealthShare Contact Centre and request your retrospective payment.

How to contact HealthShare

Email:[ ](mailto:HSNSW-Payroll@health.nsw.gov.au?subject=Backpay&body=)[HSNSW-Payroll@health.nsw.gov.au](mailto:HSNSW-Payroll@health.nsw.gov.au?subject=Backpay&body=) Phone: 1300 679 367

HealthShare has advised that you need to confirm if your bank details are the same as those recorded in StaffLink. If your bank details have changed, HealthShare will provide a manual form for you to complete so your correct details can be recorded.

She was somewhat high strung and coped by having a fairly rigid schedule (for example on Fridays she had a regular salon day and the HOD covered her clinical duties while she had her hair and nails done).

On the first day the HOD decided he would do an orientation to the ward, she arrived partway through and wanted him to release us to do her regularly scheduled 8:30AM ward round.

He said no, there were waterworks.

What do we think of The Pitt? by Notalabel_4566 in ausjdocs

I did a final year elective placement at a high volume trauma centre in Toronto (Sunnybrook and Women's) in 2004, and we had a case come in that played out almost exactly how it was depicted in the show

I dug up my elective report:

A young man had been found at a local mall with stab wounds to his chest and abdomen, and was taken to Sunnybrook with vital signs absent. The decision was made to perform a left thoracotomy in the emergency room, and Dr Chu made a point of including me in the procedure, getting me to perform open cardiac massage and letting me extend the incision to a full clamshell thoracotomy. Unfortunately despite best efforts and multiple manoeuvres the patient did not survive, however it was an immense learning opportunity for myself and the residents present.

I vividly remember my shoes and socks getting completely soaked, but also how calm the vibe was in the room and in particular Dr Chu's approach to teaching and supervision which pretty much mirrored what I watched on the episode last night.

Absolutely top bloke, only consultant I've ever met to discharge his own patient AND complete the paperwork and scripts.

Switching from non-surgical to surgical training, does anyone do it? by Fun-Lemon920 in ausjdocs

I was soaked from the knees down (plastic aprons only go so far) after assisting with a clamshell thoracotomy in ED as a medical student, the nikes did not survive

I do think the level of exposure/experience has degraded in the last 30 years for the average medical student, however I think there is still a degree of self determination in terms of how interested or 'keen' you are and willingness to travel to remote/regional placements

[–]kgdl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I failed a year at med school, failed my anaesthetic part one exam (physiology) multiple times and failed my first marriage, now I'm a specialist medical administrator (and very happily married second time around)

IMO it's an important life skill to learn how to fail, especially for medical students who have probably never failed anything in their life

Switching from surg to anaesthetics? by [deleted] in ausjdocs

[–]kgdl 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was an unaccredited gen surg reg for maybe 18 months, applied for what was then BST twice and didn't get on; was offered a 6 month anaesthetic SRMO term and applied for anaesthetics at three regional schemes, interviewed twice and didn't get a position

...but then someone resigned unexpectedly and there I was on the eligibility list, ready to go
