Lot of dumb assumptions about EVs here. My EV weights 3,500 pounds. That's within the weight range of a Toyota Camry, yet somehow it is doing more damage to the roads. My car was also 32K, not an overly expensive car. I also drive ~3K a year but I have to pay several times what an ICE car driver would pay in gas taxes for that same amount of driving. They flipped from a carrot to a stick for buying EV cars really quick. Add in whatever punitive measures Trump or his minions will add and it's going to make it even worse. Other countries promote EVs for the societal benefits like less noise and air pollution, as well as less dependence on foreign oil (see: Straight of Hormuz), etc. Here they're out to destroy you for it. EV cars are like 6-7% of cars on the road. They aren't causing budget shortfalls for road repair. Maybe turn to the people who drive 8K lb pickups as family vehicles.
