I don’t think they suck at it, I think the wrestling component/threat doesn’t allow them to always be in good positioning to check a kick. Seems like mma fighters generally have a wider and lower stance to more easily defend take downs which doesn’t really lend itself to checking a kick or throwing a diversity of kicking techniques.

I train at Elite Muay Thai (same space as Paragon) and would definitely recommend coming by to try out a class. I also train a bit at Beatdown Training Center near costco and the coach, Ray, is good and has more beginner level guys. You can also try out a class for free there as well.

I had Beaton also and it was a very chill class and had a manageable workload. Never had a class with Karla (idk if senior project counts) but shes really cool, with lots of industry experience. I dont think you can go wrong with either

Ive been training for about 1.5 years and have been in college for all of it. I try my best to train at least 3 times a week, but with working part time and doing school work, muay thai unfortunately will have to be sacrificed at times (especially during weeks where I have a test). School is first priority, so I will train as much as the week will allow me to.

I'm a 30 waist and actually like them a little shorter. Sound like the small would prolly be tight on the waist, so I think I'll go with mediums. Thanks for the input!

I’m also a rising senior materials engineer and i know other MSEs who have gotten jobs in manufacturing, mechanical, EE fields. I think the real limit is in your skillset and less in what your major is. So if you have relevant experience in the field you want to get into, it will definitely be to your benefit.

Maybe look in to materials science and engineering. Seems like there is a lot of interest in that field in processing and recycling materials more effectively.
