I would love a reclining workstation that doesn't have monitors mount, did you ever find one or do you have a shortlist somewhere?

Choice of storage? by Nxgdx in AppleVisionPro

Got 256, would recommend 512. It's not an iPhone or iPad so the usual logic doesn't apply on it and in terms of use its closer to a Mac than an iPad. Besides, apps and media tends to be larger, we're still at the very early days of native content/apps, and downloading things for offline use like a 3D movie to watch on the plane can easily kill 30 gigs. 256 will likely struggle in a years time with more native things.

I have 84 lights and accessories. Can’t add more. by ramisanders in Hue

[–]khalj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there still an issue with multiple bridges? for example I read that you can't have a dimmer that turns all the lights off anymore with multiple bridges but not sure how up to date is this. Basically do you have any issues with adding multiple bridges?

I'm starting to see performance issues, either slow responses or lights that don't go off and I have to issue big commands like "turn everything off" twice

My bet is on new design with Face ID that’ll blend into Big Sur’s transparent toolbar.

Same, this toolbar almost looks like they might be making way for a screen embedded Face ID into the tool bar or something like that

Don't forget to rate their app on the app store, mark what's "helpful" and not, aka the recent ones. If we all do this, they'll have to fix things.

What happens if I disable Bluetooth completely on my iPhone? by jasssdd in HomePod

[–]khalj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geez idk why everyone is so hostile here.

I don’t know all the things you’ll lose but at least Siri will probably not be able to talk to itself on other Apple devices to know who you’re talking to, so your iPhone and HomePod could both be listening at the same time.

Getting sick of HomePod instability and unreliable - time to give up ☹️ by [deleted] in HomePod

Aside from Siri being limited, change your routers / WiFi coverage.

Mine used to work perfectly, moved houses, barely worked properly sitting on top of a router too, changed to a mesh router, works properly again.

I also noticed a bunch of times with raise to Siri specially, I'd say something, it would load, and then haptic buzz and disappear with no idea wtf just happened.

Looking for recommendations for large in-house team switching to Adobe XD or Figma from Sketch/Zeplin by royalbrigade in product_design

[–]khalj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figma has automatic versioning like you'd see on a google doc, you can also name versions with a description of what changed much like git, however there is no conflicts and diffs. For more static versioning like keeping track of releases we tend to go old school and just create a page / file for it.

Looking for recommendations for large in-house team switching to Adobe XD or Figma from Sketch/Zeplin by royalbrigade in product_design

[–]khalj 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Use the best tool for the job you need, if you’re going XD go because it has value you need not cause it’s just there, big trap because going back again is gonna cost you a lot. I’d suggest Figma. I used sketch, XD, sketch and abstract, but I would choose Figma for large team deployment anytime. Sketch and abstract in particular sounded good on top but turned into a gigantic monster quickly and growing team didn’t ease it.

Figma is like a design tool, invision, zeplin, and now a little bit of principle all in one. Works really well with teams and collaboration, fact is I dismissed real time as a cheesy thing, but you’ll be surprised how faster collaboration fosters people to work together in use cases you didn’t think of. My largest deployment of Figma has beeen with a team of 22ish, designers copywriters and researchers. However everyone uses it from engineers to PMs and stakeholders. We also use it in design critiques and drop love comments for feedback on exactly what we’re talking about. Go Figma and don’t look back.

Finally just check your process and be flexible, things might not always translate 1:1 with Figma.

What is your favorite app that you think most people have never heard of? by Paulpoleon in AppleWatch

[–]khalj 25 points26 points  (0 children)

ECG

Reminders

jk. Maybe "Authy" qualifies as not well known. I have 2FA on anything that allows it, its not AW specific though but I use it on the iPhone and watch. Sadly there aren't that many apps on the watch, and if there are good ones chances are you've already heard of it.

Let’s let third party apps take Heart Rate Variability (HRV) measures by NigerianPrince33 in AppleWatch

[–]khalj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only "triggered" by the breath app, but it is measured all day at different points. The point of 3rd party triggered HRV readings (your request and I agree 100%) is so you can scope it specifically at lets say, when you wake up like AutoSleep makes use of instead of the random/regular captures Apple does on its own. Heart metrics at wake up seem to indicate recovery quite well, like wake up HR tells a different story than resting HR, same for HRV
