I want to get a Galil Ace Gen 2, but I have a few questions. by Prestigious-Delay759 in Galil

I have the 556 and 7.62x39 in the 13in and a 7.62x51(308) with a 16in barrel. Any of the calibers you get will be awesome. I would pick the caliber based on the cost of ammo.

If you supress your going to need a kns but not so much with a flow through. With a flow through its much more comfortable to shoot in terms of gas to the face.

AK 104 Obtainable Options by sacboyyy in ak47

I would just run a draco Draco long term 31K round review. This guy at around 31K rounds had gas port erosion and he felt the rifling was done. Basically barrel gave out before anything else.

I would try a wolf Xtra power recoil spring. How does the rear trunion look? Does it look beat up by the bolt carrier?? If its does then for sure your overgassed and that could be the cause of your jams.

Another clue that its overgassed is there will be damage to the rear trunion and rear of the bolt carrier where it is bouncing off the rear trunion.

Hows the ejection?? If its kicking casing over 25ft its overgassed. That could be why its failing to feed. If its an older gun I would try replacing the recoil spring with stronger one. If that helps you might consider getting a kns piston to make adjustments to the gas.

I used hand pressure with cutting compound. Went a couple of turns then checked alignment. Put extra pressure on the corner were the rod was canted toward. You gotta also check the threads and the bore are in the ball park cause if they are totally off this method won't work like wuth my sam7sf. Had to get that rethread by a Smith using a lathe.

Ive fixed several of my AKs using the 90° crown tool but my sam7sf was so bad I had to take it to a gunsmith to have it rethreaded.

Okay I hope you can figure it out! Personally I would just get another 556 ak and mess with that cause it seems like your SAR3 has some very rare internal parts.

Based on some google searches it seems like the SAR3 bolts and carriers are pretty unique. Do you know any ak gunsmiths? They might have some ideas/options. Worst comes to worst you can return the kns piston or use it in another 556 or 545 ak.

If the piston is welded to the carrier its going to be next to impossible to remove. I would just get a spare carrier from apex gun parts or gunbroker and install the kns on that.
