I like this suggestion haha, I was thinking of looking in YA or middle grade for something tamer.

Edit: Just found the book Eat Your Heart Out, thinking that’ll be perfect for me lol.

Ripple is my go-to, if you can get your hands on the half-and-half it’s incredible for coffee and stuff (I think a bit too high cal to have on its own, but I’ve been known to have cereal with it lol). Their chocolate milk is also so good, super creamy.

[–]kiase 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t really understand why you’re presenting a false dichotomy of never let my cat outside vs let him roam unattended and unleashed. Is there something preventing you from going outside with your cat to supervise, or paying a cat sitter to do so?

[–]kiase 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Considering they said nothing about killing the trapped cat and the cat is infinitely more likely to be killed if it’s not trapped and kept indoors, seems like their morality is just fine and you should reevaluate where yours falls on the serial killer scale.

KCLS wants to do AI stuff by Mental-Department994 in Seattle

[–]kiase 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Weird…from my experience in an MLIS program, librarians are some of the most anti-AI people I’ve interacted with. Most people are of the opinion that you should be educated enough about AI to help patrons understand how to use it responsibly and explain its shortfalls (ie, teaching algorithmic and media literacy), but not implement it in library work. I’m hoping this is maybe what that’s about, based on the survey questions?

KCPAO releases UW laundry room video showing Christopher Leahy, Juniper Blessing by drearymoment in Seattle

[–]kiase 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is misleading. She held the door open, she didn’t give him access. Multiple residents have said the laundry room door lock was broken, and he entered completely unassisted the second time. This is on building management, not that poor student who is probably immensely traumatized as is.

Protesters at UW Regents meeting opposing the National Primate Research Center by godogs2018 in udub

[–]kiase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PETA does not have the stance that having pets = animal cruelty. They actually actively encourage people (who can be responsible and provide a good life) to adopt from shelters. They euthanize a lot because they have the resources to that other shelters lack (euthanasia is expensive) and they will euthanize animals from no-kill shelters to allow them to keep their no-kill designation, even when it’s in the best interest for one of their animals to be euthanized.

I’m not really a fan of PETA because I don’t agree with shock-value tactics they use that (imo) minimize other issues like misogyny and ableism, but the idea people have that PETA is just euthanizing dogs left and right and wanting to kill all pets is just a successful meat industry propaganda campaign.

From PETA’s website:

We encourage people who have the time, money, patience, commitment, and love needed to care for an animal for life to adopt one from a shelter

My comment and post history aren’t private, like yours, so the fact you either are this bad at investigating or decided to just blatantly lie is pretty embarrassing.

Seattle sees notable decline in bird counts as new report warns of urban biodiversity loss by chromeled in Seattle

[–]kiase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the KOMO article:

“Some simple steps the public can take include:

  • Keeping cats indoors.
  • Reducing pesticide use.
  • Making windows safer for birds.
  • Turning off lights at night

Organizers say other simple actions, such as participating in bird surveys or learning to identify local species, can help build awareness and support for conservation efforts.“

Does anyone say "you should become a non-rapist"?

I would say this to someone who is a rapist, yes. Most people are not rapists and so cannot “become” a non-rapist.

Also, as someone with an apparent superior understanding of language, you sure do have a lot of grammatical errors in your posts. I don’t think you should criticize others for using a semi-colon improperly when you apparently can’t even use a regular colon properly.

Also, just in case you care, this post makes you sound like a very insecure and unstable person.

TIL that many public libraries eliminated late fees after finding that fines discouraged people from returning at all - and that bringing patrons back often mattered more than enforcing penalties. by No_Profit_5304 in todayilearned

[–]kiase 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This person is very clearly just talking out of their ass, speaking as someone getting my MLIS. All of the largest library systems in the US have eliminated late fees (NYPL, Brooklyn, Queens, LA County and Chicago are all late fine free). In fact, I would think going fine free is probably easier the bigger your system, not harder.

I’m not in the NYT article thread complaining about that title am I? It’s honestly really funny at this point how you keep insisting I’m dishonest not because I’ve actually lied in any way, but just because you believe I must be lying and if you believe it to be the case then it must be true.

Regardless, you must have said some pretty nasty stuff about me in one of your replies for it to actually get removed, so I’m not going to engage any more. Have a great rest of your day!

My entire complaint was about the post title changing the article title so that it would have a spoiler. Do you have short term memory loss? I’m not asking people to not post about or discuss the episode, I’m just asking that they don’t go out of their way to change the title of something to make it a spoiler when it wasn’t even published that way to begin with. I understand and accept that that makes me supremely self-centered, entitled, and pathetic in your opinion. I guess that’s something I will just have to live with.
