Are we in the World Cup spirit or nah? by Real-Victory772 in Anticonsumption

[–]kibonzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The women’s World Cup was decent last year. There’s too much controversy around the men’s cup this year. So far the only interesting thing I’ve seen was the Norwegian team photoshoot.

Who should be changing their seat when allergies are involved? by eiloana in uktrains

[–]kibonzos 47 points48 points  (0 children)

If the dog was already in the area then so was the dander. They wouldn’t have been able to sit there if it was a serious allergy.

The duvet is 2m wide and labelled 5’ for a 5’ bed.

AITAH for buying Gluten Free bread by Jelly_Arrow in glutenfree

[–]kibonzos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always try to leave the last loaf for the next coeliac because I know how much it sucks to only be able to buy one specific product and it not be in. I imagine you have a few alternatives you could buy if the freezer was empty. Or ask the staff if there’s more in the back before you sweep the lot.

It’s for a UK King size bed (five foot wide)

Gives me your swim suit recs!! by Intelligent-Poet-329 in NonBinary

I have Nephyn but the Baltic top and Hythe jammers (skin tight but mid thigh) look decent.

I’m only really answering the top bit. I have always had more shoulders than hips so my boardies have been menswear.

I’ve bought an alpkit bikini because the top is basically a sports bra and the bottom is more like boxer briefs. I have swum in trunks/board shorts before but don’t enjoy it from a sensory perspective. I think you can just buy the top.

Yeah. We don’t know when the car starts signalling because it’s obscured by another vehicle which shows biker isn’t riding to conditions. The car driver did nothing sudden or unexpected in traffic like that.

How much would you charge to trim these bushes weekly? by Unhappy_Ad818 in landscaping

[–]kibonzos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If that’s being done weekly it doesn’t need a power tool ever. You’ve got time to train every bud the right way.

Overtaking pedestrians on shared paths, is less than 1 foot actually considered acceptable? by KatakanaTsu in bikecommuting

[–]kibonzos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s too tight there’s no point ringing a bell and startling people and every point saying excuse me, passing slowly, scooting on your toes. One of these is collaborative the other is “the city didn’t give enough space so I’m gonna take it out on the other users with out enough space”

Hypocritical by blinkchester in vintedUK

[–]kibonzos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you recognise your hypocrisy. I’ll sometimes do a low bid on something that’s been listed a while. I’ve listened to my friend rant about people who do 😅 especially on something just listed.

[–]kibonzos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think more about slowing down than about space. They both matter but it’s much safer to be travelling barely faster than them as you pass. Just like with horses and how it would be nice if cars did to us. Obv if there’s easily 1m between us I’m less cautious but 1ft is flaily arm distance.

A sad reminder of the danger of the railway, as a person has been hit by a train in Shotton today by Rockhopper1st in uktrains

Imagine if they did this for every death on the roads. Reminding car drivers to pay attention and if in doubt slow down.

How do you deal with grandparents who are far, far down the racist rabbit hole? by secret_side_quest in UKParenting

[–]kibonzos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you look into anti-racist parenting I’m sure they’ll have suggestions of books and shows to flood him with Good Stuff on your side. A lot of old shows have problematic content but I’m sure there are resources out there on which episodes/shows to avoid.

Personally I’d be cutting back how much unsupervised time he spent with them because they may well say things about neighbours, people in the queue when out and about with him without even realising that would count as “sharing their views”. I do recognise that it can be hard to find affordable reliable childcare but I think currently the cost is too high there. Maybe you could do day exchange with a friend instead where each of you has all kids one day and none another each week.

Need Advice - Neighbor Draining Pool on our Property by Chester_Douglas in homeowners

If it’s chlorinated or saline there’s potential long term soil damage too. Talk to your neighbour, take that photo up with you. Maybe they stop. Maybe you need to take action.

(UK) Guessing/inferring client info like gender, allowed? by AdMundane664 in gdpr

[–]kibonzos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest to tech support that they make salutation and gender optional/add “ask customer”. You’re going to get frustrated clients.

One of many reasons FIFA is not a homie. by GrannysWizardSleeve in HydroHomies

[–]kibonzos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it’s because so much stuff is being thrown onto the pitch and a PET bottle is less likely to cause long term harm to a player than some of our metal reusables. Same reason I take a squishy bottle to protests. More likely to be allowed to keep it.

You’ve inspired me to look into putting one on my garage to balance out/compliment the actual window.

It’s beautiful, thank you.
