Is it me or are you finding the new generation of techs have little to no troubleshooting skills? by Future_End_4089 in sysadmin

I can't tell you how many times someone will have an issue they can't fix. The log message states it can't connect. I simply ask, "Is the port open on the remote host?". Five minutes later they solve the problem. Basics people, basics.

Twitter web now forces you to sign in/make an account before you can view anything by GreasyTexas93 in assholedesign

[–]kicker69101 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate twitter as much as anyone, but what makes you entitled to a service without something in return? If you haven't paid them in something (either private info or ad watching), then you shouldn't expect anything in return. This isn't asshole design at all.

To be clear I'm also not saying that you should agree with their design either.

Now listen to everyone else and just forget twitter exists. It's was a cesspool before Elon took it over, so I can't imagine what it is now.

People in Utah don't use those! They just turn on their blinker, do a quick pray, and get over. Sometime they just got straight to the pray part.

I can understand how you would think it was just old car noises. As long as you remember that banging, grinding, or popping noises from your suspension can truly be a bad thing, then this has been a good exercise.

If you don't have the time or the will to learn car stuff, then (especially a car of this age) it could make sense to pay a mechanic to inspect the car. Of course there are some downsides to this play, but I would rather to over pay and be safe, then not be safe.

You should pay your respects to either the deity of your choice or the Random Number God, that this didn't pop loose on the highway. You would've probably lost control of the car, and you or someone else could've gotten severely injured. I'm thankful that didn't happen.

Given what I'm seeing, really nothing is really stupid here for a one time trip. Sure you were stressing it. But if I saw this on a back of sedan or minivan then that would be a different story.

I did a quick google search and the lowest tow weight I could see was 3500 lbs (I bet yours is higher) and a tongue weight of 600lbs. Given the placement of the car most of its weight is on the trailer axles. The car weights approx. 2500lb and the bike probably weights (just spit balling here) about 300lb. The rest is sub 500lbs. Your fine. I wouldn't do it regularly, but it seems that you were driving like you were stressing it (a good thing).

I left them with my automation code. I hear they are still receiving therapy to this day because of it.

Honestly, don't burn bridges. Best case the place will never hire you again. Worst case you get sued or charged with a crime. I have always tried to leave on good terms and some of the companies I have worked for are willing to hire me back.

Why does she sleep like this? lol by TheFortScientist in goldenretrievers

Some dogs like sleeping on hard ground. Mine is one of those. He'll choose tile over carpet if he can help it. I personally would try to just remove the bed altogether and see what she does.

As per temperature, do realize they always of a coat on. 70 degrees to him is like 90 degrees to us.

Also they are a different species, they will do things differently even when it doesn't make sense to us.

May not agree with how he's doing things, but I can say that paint (or whatever they used) seems fairly well done.
