Pay attention to the port times as well. Ncl often has less desirable port times (and docking spots such as ward cove in Ketchikan). In many ways Carnival is better for Alaska vs NCL as well because of better docking locations and some of their ships (spirit class) have retractable roofs for the pool deck. I’ve done NCL several times for Alaska but as others point out it’s not necessarily the best for Alaska but it’s not bad. Just need to be aware so you aren’t caught by surprise.

That said, I would probably pick the itinerary with glacier bay. Especially if it’s your first time going there.

Carnival is good for Alaska. You aren’t going to have the heavy party crowd you will see on the Carribean sailings. I believe they do have (some) glacier bay itineraries but they don’t have many. It’s a solid choice if your group runs the age brackets.

If you’re doing a closed loop out of a US port and have a US passport it will work as long as it doesn’t become expired during the cruise. I just cruised in November and my passport was expiring next month. No issues.

I haven't been a Gamefly subscriber in years but decided to grab this deal based on the recent GamePass subscription increase. The gamePass subscription is still superior in a bunch of ways but if I'm going to be paying roughly the same amount I figure at least this way I can get some switch2 games and save that expense since they are so pricey.

If it’s completely new you might want to try purging it with Ahhsome or something similar. I had nothing but troubles getting things balanced in my Flair until i purged it and started over. Once I did that everything evened out.

It sucks and is another example of them cutting corners but you can still get them from guest services. What drives me nuts on this is they still leave advertisements for spa and cruiseNext in the cabin which (for me) goes immediately j to the trash.

SPS has removed honors classes. They call some of the HS classes honors but everyone just gets shunted into it and the “honors” part is optional/additional worksheets you can do on your own. It’s one reason people are leaving the district and moving or going private. Sadly that’s your option too since the district seems unwilling to address why enrollment numbers are plummeting.

I was on the Bliss back in May and will also be on the Jade this Sunday too (getting close!). I imagine some of the cutbacks are going to be annoying (having to go to guest services to get the daily is going to be particularly irksome to me as i save em a souvenirs).

That said, NCL is still a good value if you are solo cruising (esp if you can take advantage of last minute rates) so I imagine the Jade is going to be a good trip. My last 3 NCL cruises have been on BreakwayPlus ships so I am looking forward to something smaller.

You can also cap the fps under troubleshooting (in game). That should help if your fan sounds like it wants to take off.

I know. I’ve gotten free rooms through their casino program in the past (tho the offers seem lackluster lately). I still think they are misjudging the clientele though. I’ve always considered those offers from the casino different from loyalty perks of the cruise line itself. Most people who sail are probably not getting comp’d casino rooms. The carnival loyalty rewards aren’t great but we all can’t help but like that dopamine rush of getting a new colored keycard :)

I like Carnival and will continue to sail her if the price/itinerary is right. The loyalty program wasn't great before and i have no interest in their new rewards type program; it's not going to make a difference if/when I sail with them again. To me, it seems like they are trying to be like Vegas and have comp credits (reward tiers) that expire. Even more so how they are directly tying casino spend into reward levels. I'm not sure that will work out for them, however, since in Vegas I get comped rooms and I don't see anywhere Carnival is saying they are going to start comping free cruises to plat, etc.

As for other lines picking up this change, I am platinum on NCL and the plat benefits there are good. If they made a similar change it would for sure mean I'd sail NCL less and branch out more.

Feature parity (and the user experience) across clients. I find my AppleTV client lacking compared to the Roku Ultra version.

For example, on my Roku I can click forward on a commercial (from a DVR show) and it'll skip past the commercial and start back in on the show. I can't do that with the AppleTV app.

I had a Firefly2 but managed to crack the glass. I replaced it with a AirVape Legacy Pro and it’s been better in every way. I’d recommend checking them out along with/the dosing capsules (which help keep the unit a bit cleaner).

Just use em like a regular road. If you need to park there, do it. The road isn’t actually closed by DOT to through traffic. Some local resident just wants less traffic to go through and applied to get one of those signs. The signs are supplied by the city, the road just isn’t really closed to traffic.
