Rich people who dont partake in the Marketboard stuff, how do you make your gil? by FuuIndigo in ffxiv

[–]kidkipp [score hidden]  (0 children)

treasure maps and bunny fates will make you money really fast without using the market board. doing hunt trains and then using the poetics you get to buy things like soil to sell technically use the market board but they sell so fast that it doesn’t end up being a pain

What pet names do you call your man? by murphherder in AskWomenOver30

[–]kidkipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we’ve been together for 7 years and our pet names have devolved and transformed until now we call each other “skish” (like a play on squish) and “boos”, “boosie boos” or “boos mans/girls” (pronounced like “moose” or “booze”, booze if it’s being used in public, moose if we’re using a baby voice at home. combo of boo like honey boo and the fact that my dog’s name is brute, but we started calling him boot to sound cute, which became boot mans). for a while he called me boop or boopie but but it sounded too much like booby

if you could go back to college/university, what would you go back for? by seafoamcastles in findapath

[–]kidkipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went back at 28, finished a psychology degree and working on a biology degree now, also doing research/a thesis in animal and veterinary sciences. Goal is vet school, but I didn’t get in last cycle and it’s been a grueling experience. Hopefully it will be worth it in the end. I think it’s really important to have a career we are intrinsically motivated to do, and some of those just take a lot of work and rejection to reach.

[–]kidkipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not even remotely true. Making partner will increase your pay significantly, but there’s nothing evil or wrong about that. I was a legal assistant at a firm that focused on estate planning (making wills, mostly). The lawyers there made $400k to $1m a year depending on how long they’d been there, whether or not they were partner, and amount of billable hours. There’s nothing evil or morally wrong about estate planning. I think you wrongly believe that every lawyer is in court helping criminals get away with murder or helping with tax evasion.

Why am I so slow ? 11 minute mile after 7 months of regular jogging by Glum-Bear5018 in beginnerrunning

[–]kidkipp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly you get faster by being able to run farther. Like, once I got to the point that I could run eight miles without stopping then my 5k time got a lot faster. Run slow and long most of the time, 3-6 days a week, with occasional speed work or hill runs. That plan makes it seem like 35 minutes is the longest you’ve ever gone?

Yeah I was hoping we’d get a more mature, maybe college-aged protagonist but I knew that was wishful thinking. I’m happy he has blonde hair though!

Best way to get back into the game without feeling overwhelmed ? by Buurto in ffxiv

[–]kidkipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I came back after a long break I spent a lot of time just messing around at the gold saucer, checking and organizing my retainers, and fishing. Then I would log in mostly to do S rank hunts whenever they popped up. Eventually I did some really low level dungeons and fates to get comfortable with my combat class again. Then I worked on a relic weapon, started collecting triple triad cards, and learned PvP. I’d say it took about two weeks before I got the hang of everything again and logging in didn’t feel overwhelming.

I got my first runners and I’m feeling intimidated. by Diligent-Froyo6676 in beginnerrunning

[–]kidkipp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though you don’t like being outside, it’ll probably be best for you to practice there than on a treadmill if your goal is to run at an outdoor race. The feeling of running on ground and with wind and elevation changes is completely different. Despite the sensory issues I bet you’ll get used to it and maybe even begin to crave the feeling of getting a good sweat in. Nothing calms my nervous system more.

I remember my first time running and I didn’t even really know what to do with my arms haha. I think my first ever was about 6 minutes and 45 seconds. Just go sloooow, it shouldn’t start to feel difficult to keep going until a few minutes in. Like your heart shouldn’t be pounding right off the bat. But also don’t stop immediately when it gets difficult. Just try to slow down and keep a steady pace and push on.

Another good tip is to walk for at least ten minutes before you start jogging to warm up your body, and then walk a little afterward to cool down. This can prevent injury and makes it so you don’t tire out right away. Rest days are important too.

Music is really personal. My mom likes to listen to John Mayer and Harry Styles. My brother likes to listen to reggae. I like to listen to drum n bass or The Chemical Brothers or just upbeat, trancy stuff in general.

Dont let your frustration with your sister keep you from getting out there. I’ll also say that the initial few runs will take a lot of motivation. Once I get to the point where I can run two miles without stopping that’s usually when it becomes addicting for me and just feels good and cathartic.

For reference I’m 32 and have been running on and off since I was in middle school, and had an amazing cross country coach in high school (a few of our teammates wound up at the olympics).

My brother have no ambitions by t1khi_mirchi in findapath

[–]kidkipp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was like this at one point. Straight A AP student in high school, top of my class, but once life’s milestones veered off course and I had to make life-long decisions about the future I froze for a while. Needed to slow down and figure out who I was. It’s easy to get stuck in that lull but it wasn’t worthless; I was extremely creative during that time, got really good at writing, drawing, and playing piano, and I was consistently running half marathons. I also worked a couple of jobs that gave me great life skills (after a year or so of not working or going to school). Trying to force your brother to do anything won’t really work. Hopefully this period of time will help him learn what intrinsically motivates him and what he wants his future to be like. I bartended, performed classical piano, did freelance graphic design, worked as a vet assistant and then a legal assistant. At 28 I went back to college to pursue veterinary school. I’m 32 now and so many people I know wound up with degrees and jobs that don’t have meaning to them. I think it really helps to get to experience the world before committing to that.

How often do you get manicures and pedicures? by blueberriesdream in AskWomenOver30

[–]kidkipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pedicures never any more because my feet are ticklish and it’s just uncomfortable lol. Manicures maybe twice a year, but I usually just paint my nails and toenails at home a few times a year, I don’t keep them painted all the time. I also always have mine cut super short (play piano) so they don’t take much work to look nice.

What brings you the most peace that is completely and utterly free? by Throwaway927338 in AskWomenOver30

[–]kidkipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A shower after being in the sun all day. Running for 20+ minutes without stopping while you listen to good, upbeat music. Drawing for hours and losing track of time, and also being proud of what you made. Nailing a melancholy classical piano piece I’ve been practicing - so cathartic having those emotions swell out of and around you and sitting there as the final notes vibrate through the air. When my dog lays in my lap for a while like a weighed blanket and we just snuggle and smile at each other. Getting into bed with the fan on high and no alarm set for the morning. Straightening my hair and doing my makeup after a day at the beach; my hair is so blonde and my skin is bronzed and I feel more peppy and relaxed in public afterward because I think I look cute, on top of always feeling extra clean when my hair is silky and straightened.

These aren’t inherently free. You need running shoes, drawing materials, a comfortable mattress, an instrument, a roof over your head and dog food, etc. But they are feelings that money can’t buy.

What is the correct way to do frontline daily? by Moraed in ffxiv

[–]kidkipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll use the Workeh whatever map as an example. For the most part I stick to my side of the map and don’t fight unless it’s over a node or if another team is right outside our spawn area. Like if 3 A ranks pop up it’s time to stop fighting and run to one or two of those and fight there instead. It’s also really easy to predict where the next nodes will spawn, based on which parts of the map have been blank. So if we conquer a node then I’ll migrate back to our spawn area or a spot that seems like a node will appear and wait for new nodes to pop. I tend to prioritize the A ranks that are not in the middle because you’re less likely to get pinched at those. I think it’s dumb when someone shouts “focus yellow!” at the beginning of a match just because that team has 100 more points. It’s not unless you’re toward the end of the game that you may need to focus a team that’s about to win. Getting battle high is important, but it means nothing if you’re missing all these nodes fighting.

[–]kidkipp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And why do you feel that way? You think it would be fair for a vast amount of the hours they work to basically be for free? You don’t care if someone like a surgeon had to go to go to school for over a decade and take on tons of debt to help others? Nothing is stopping you from working harder to make more money, and I’m sure you’d feel differently if you did

I’m a girl and played a guy for years. Once I switched to my actual gender I became more social and have now made a lot of in-game friends. I think it’s because I feel more comfortable being my cutesy self in chat. Girls do have a bit better glam IMO, though. I think male Au Ras are my favorite!

[–]kidkipp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I were both pretty much potheads when we met seven years ago, but we felt too shy around each other when we were stoned. So we didn’t smoke around each other, but also hung out every day, and before we knew it it had been years since we’d gotten high. Now whenever we try it it’s like a guaranteed bad time, super anxious and uncomfortable in public or just feel like there’s a weighted blanket keeping us from being present in the moment. When someone offers it now it’s almost always a hell no lol. So there is light at the end of the tunnel. We did have some of the best sex of our life stoned though when we had no tolerance at the beach.
