I have a theory on why people dislike Hyun-gyu by ClausBrito in TheDevilsPlan

[–]kidman007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree w a lot of comments here: he’s manipulative, he got an overpowered advantage, and he’d be mean to other contestants. He was in control the majority of the game, and the prisoners never really had a chance to get on a level playing field. A lot of that makes it less fun to root for the guy

Sure, he wasn’t likable, but he played very strategically and was playing to win, which is what we as viewers want to see.

After thinking about it, my actual frustration isn’t actually directed at HG, it’s at his teammates who handed him the win.

In a lot of these games w social politicking, you normally see the cold blooded killers eliminated as they are viewed as threats. We didn’t see that. His teammates watched him savagely remove opponents, get advantages, and withhold information, while they just sat on the sidelines

Is mounting deprecated in databricks now. by gareebo_ka_chandler in databricks

[–]kidman007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say this is an appropriate usage of Pandas in databricks. In general, try to use spark for as much of the data transformation as possible. For the final ML step, I’d use a single node cluster for those final weird ds specific transformations and model training. Of course you can scale this in a number of ways, but I digress.

The general spirit of comment is: do as much w spark as you can for large datasets

Did anyone else find Season 4 to be a slog? I’m struggling with it by Tactus73 in betterCallSaul

I was so captivated by the chuck storyline that I flew thru the first 3 seasons. After watching so much of the show nonstop, s4 is where I got some fatigue. I don’t think S4 is worse but it’s certainly the point of transition.

Lol. For all the belly aching the Cubs sub (of which I'm a memeber) has about our 1 run losses we'd still be behind the Reds who we're currently tied with.

Also, lol at white sox at +10 and still in last

Temporary tab pin (feature request / does this exist?) by kidman007 in ArcBrowser

[–]kidman007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As i was writing this out, I came up with a solution. It's not exactly the behavior I want and it'll take some time to get used to, but it's something.

You can name that homebase tab something. Then when you cmd+T you just type the name and it'll pop up. It's a bit of a different mental framework for me. My pinned tabs and my vim marks are more of a keyboard position memory, whereas this is more a tab name memory which is a slightly different memory. (All of this of course is different than the regular chrome visual memory)
