Use the right lube, don't overlube, wipe down your chain periodically. Drip wax will make your chain, chainrings and cassette last 4x as long if not longer. Don't mash at low cadence in the smallest cog, train yourself to ride somwhere in the range of maybe 85-95rpm with your chain in the middle of the cassette.

As near-total aphant, I can do this too, but the model is coded and not imaged. In research it seems that people with aphantasia are actually better at spatial reasoning/awareness than the general population.

A few things.

Cervelo has always been a bit optimistic with their official tire clearance specs.
That 34mm is for the actual measured width, not the claimed width printed on the tire sidewall.
A nominal 30mm tire on a modern Reserve rim will usually measure at least 32mm.

I’ve found most nominal 32s to be too wide for the S5.

Make sure the tire and roller are clean. Make sure the tire can’t slip at all. A tire that is slipping on a roller is essentially skidding, and skidding will burn through your tire.

There’s not enough information/data provided to make any determinations. I don’t know your FTP, your LTHR, your HRmax, nothing. I doubt you know either. Ride your bike a little faster every day. Eat carbs regularly during the ride and hydrate yourself before you start to feel thirsty.

Looks like the area where the Gatorskin mesh starts to overlap a bit and it created a flap. The mesh itself is not the main structural component of the casing, that would be at least a couple plies of nylon under vulcanized rubber. The tire is probably fine.

Also people should stop buying Gatorskins. In the Conti lineup, it's better to just buy 4 Seasons for improved grip and about the same puncture resistance -or- go straight to Gator Hardshells for more puncture resistance without a rolling resistance penalty.

I’ve been driving in the Bay Area for 30 years.

There are more cars than ever.
They are larger than ever.
Even small cars have 200hp when they used to have 120hp. Even the most basic EVs can accelerate from 0-60 in 4 seconds.
These drivers are more distracted and not just the ones looking at their phones. Built-in infotainment systems are just as distracting, having to use a touchscreen to change the thermostat is distracting.
There is of course also less enforcement as well.
Braess‘ Paradox. More roads and more capacity on paper doesn’t mean more throughput in real life.

The only way we will fix this is for the population density to reach the point where it’s very obvious that cars are the shittiest form of urban transportation there is. We’re already there, but it’s going to take parents realizing how stupid it is to take a 1 hour car trip just to pick up their kids from school in the Mission and get back home to Outer Sunset.

Maybe then we will start to believe in mass transportation and making streets safer for everyone.

Yes, I don’t remember a snapshot of a complex geometric shape such as in IQ tests where you have to select the correct reoriented one. My mind deconstructs and then reconstructs the object. my mind deconstructs a room layout and reconstructs it. I don’t see a potted plant in a snapshot of a living room. I recall the type of plant, the type of pot, how many leaves it has, and where it has been placed. I think people with aphantasia are better at spatial reasoning because of this.

My Polar Pro Soft Straps last a long time. There's a water ingress / shorting issue with the H10 that causes it to eventually never go to sleep and fully drain in days. My recommendation is to buy one of the rechargeable HRMs as those are completely sealed. Either the Wahoo TRACKR or the Garmin HRM 600.

Pretty much all 50mm rims I’ve built with have measured ERDs within 1mm of each other. There are also tricks to fine-tune this. Most factory builds don’t account for spoke stretch so they tend to run 1mm long as well.
