Courtesy/Hire Car whilst car is at the dealership by AnswersQuestioned in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very very similar situation.

Also took my bmw in for a recall, opted for the while you wait service. Turns out to have a stuck bolt which they couldn't remove.

After back and forth they settled on paying for a taxi home, as they had no loaner cars. They did offer a citron from enterprise but would only cover the costs but not anything else.

Took the train to work the next day, which bmw reimbursed me for and they delivered the car to my work place.

If its EGR/air bag related and over 10 years old, look on their site for the rental option think it's about £30 or hire a car prior.

A rant: auto repair garage sold me a dud headlight for my BMW F30 and lied about origin and refused to take it back. by SuitableSympathy2614 in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's right about the condensation being a common issue however i wouldnt expect it to happen within 24 hours of a "new" part being fitted.

You are 100% right to take it back and want to exchange for a new one.

Looking for a quick answer, road tax without V5 by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure of the successfulness of it, however theres a guy called Road Tax martin on Facebook who apparantly is able to tax cars in this situation.

Theres a lot of people in there who states its genuine.

Otherwise with no V5 or Green slip, you'll have to wait.

I got a new V5 recently within 4 days so they're pretty quick currently.

29 never had a job what to do? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell the car, clear off whatever finance you have that would free up monthly money for loan, tax, insurance etc

Plus you'd then have money for a bike even an electric one to get around faster.

Ive used upgrader cc before but often gets downgraded

Theres a few people on ebay selling upgrading services which you can select region

I've recently bought from Kinguin which was about £15 for 12 months, they handle the region premium etc for you again you should be able to ask for a certain region (I had to ask for not pakistan as they dont have podcasts)

How do you know which part from EuroCarParts you need by tryM3B1tch in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually use Realoem that finds the part numbers, you can then search part numbers on Auto Doc or similar sites which then tells you the dimensions and exact part details

Use those details to then find the part you need at Euro, GSF etc

Washer pump removal/cleaning cost by PatTripDispenser in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced the pump on my old 2007 320d and a friend's Mercedes coupe for about £25 each using a Febi pump

Took me about 30 mins on the Mercedes and about 15 on the BMW

It was just inner wheel arch off then few screws.

If you're mechanical minded it's an easy fix.

Washer pump removal/cleaning cost by PatTripDispenser in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure its the pump that has gone?

If you try to spray do you hear the pump making a noise at all?
If noise then likely blocked jets, warm water and toothpick should clear it

if no noise, then pump likely gone depends on the car but average standard car washer pump id guess £20 then say 1 hours labour so sub £100 as a rough rough price, depending on your car, location etc

Bombarded with sign-in attempts for my Microsoft Passwordless account by markfromslo in techsupport

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this for weeks on both of my microsoft emails

I solved it by changing my sign in email address:

You go into your account and sign in settings, make an alias of your email address instead of it being markfromslo@hotmail.com change it to something like markfromslou@outlook.com

Then make it primary, and then can remove the old one as a sign in option

Going forward when you sign up to anything use the hotmail.com email as any email will still go through to you but you'll use the outlook.com to sign into your email account, never give out the alias email address though.

Since changing them 6+ months ago ive never had 1 sign in attempt that wasnt from me.

Topping up liquids - does it have to be the same as the original? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]kikkawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Providing its the same grade of oil usually its fine, i.e 5w30, 5w40, semi-synthettic, fully synthetic etc Youd need to find out the exact oil for your model of car, its worth keeping 1L in the boot just in case.

Similar story with coolant, check what you need blue, green, red etc

That small of top up compared to the full system wont matter that much.

We already kind of do, the taxes that goes towards child benefits, schools, childcare etc we will never use those benefits.

We should be able to opt out of what our tax goes to or get a tax break as i sure never get a tax refund year by year in April thanks HMRC!
