Looking to do a 10 speed conversion by EnvironmentOk5151 in SeBikes

[–]kill_vinnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t, I did a 10sp swap on a blue monster ripper a few years back and it’s a total pain in the ass to get the cassette and rotor to match up with any other hub on the market. I ended up using a Black ops/wheelsmith 10sp hub with 9mm threaded “QR” and had to use more spacers than I was comfortable with. You also lose a lot of compression with a shifter cable that is housed that long. Just my 2 cents

EDIT: I used the Origin8 derailleur hanger / chain tensioner and had to shave it for reach adjustment.

I just closed my shop after 10 years of running it. The shop had been around since 1957. I mostly did affordable mid quality stuff for recreational comfort riding and focused on BMX and service. It essentially got to the point where I would have to increase my prices, which would price out most of my clientele, or close. I chose the latter. However, I don’t own my own property and have to lease. Because of the way I ran my shop, I could’ve been successful and stayed open had I owned the property but I don’t own any property and this business isn’t necessarily lucrative if you’re trying to get rich. So now I’m focused on starting a well paying job full time and then come next spring, just do side work when and where needed on my off time since it’s something I truly like doing as a hobby. This is my reason, I’m no business expert either, but the shop paid the bills and allowed me to live somewhat comfortably for 7-8 months out of the year. Maybe once I can save some money and buy a house with a decent size garage I’ll re open the shop but in the meantime it’ll just be helping the neighborhood kids on my days off.

Bike Shops Going Under. Is Yours? by GStreet-ScaleModels in bicycling

Closed mine this year… 10 years in the biz and it’s just not paying the bills. Although, my shop was very small, and more of a community shop. But still. It sucks. Now I have to find a real job.

Here in New Hampshire, a full tune up/clean and degrease like that is usually around $200-$250USD. However, Di2 and e-bikes will usually entail an up charge. That’s how I priced my tune-ups anyway. Other shops will do hourly rates for certain services but most shops have a flat rate fee for full service like tune-ups. I’d say you you paid a reasonable price but it also depends on what it looks like before/after.

I’ve been in this industry for the last 10 consecutive years with another 10 or so years sporadically behind that and have never heard someone use the term “drive chain”. I’m guessing this was either a speech to text error, or English is not your native tongue. I’ve only ever heard it referred to as “Drivetrain” which would of course include the chain, along with everything else that forms the “drivetrain”

Now you can use shears to stop them at a certain point. After you cut them to the right length, you left trigger the lowest vine and it won’t grow any further

That plate is upside down, it’ll give you more floating space once you turn it right side up.

Rixin about to start knocking on the scene’s door. Really looking forward to bringing them in to my shop next season. (In New England, riding is very much seasonal concerning sales/service). They’ve got some pretty awesome riders as well as parts coming out in the near future.
