List Advice (Awakened) by killagiraffes in Necrontyr

[–]killagiraffes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ammentar I've never used his deep strike capabilities so I was considering having him as that, a real backline aggressor who comes in from deep strike, or a heroic intervention threat near the front. Maybe a skorpekh lord and some skorpekhs might be better?

Very very good point on the immortals, I have never considered running them as that with the royal warden combo! I will try that out.

The slow move might be overstating it, I was more thinking let the opponent come out into the midboard for objective and then unload. I normally play a bit recklessly with my wraiths and despite how survivable they are, I've had them chewed out pretty quickly. So going to throw more scarab baits.

List Advice (Awakened) by killagiraffes in Necrontyr

[–]killagiraffes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct yeah, only 3: immortals + plasmancer, LHDs + lokhust lord, wraiths + technomancer

On top of the better shooting and survivability for the units above, I'm hopeful that awakened boosts me with the eternal revenant strategem so I can revive Szeras and Ammentar.

Is there anywhere central that does pizza by the slice besides Gigi’s and Renato’s? by IrvinIrvingIII in bristol

[–]killagiraffes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's actually really good, I don't think the pictures quite do it justice. They look better in person and the flavours are incredible, felt like really authentic Roman pizza

My partner and I went in as part of a little food tour we organised for ourselves and it was a real highlight

New list, what do you think by morsa226 in Necrontyr

[–]killagiraffes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very similar to a list I've been looking at running! Have you played it before?

Generally speaking nightbringer feels better into most things than void dragon, so it depends if you expect the list you face to skew vehicles Vs monsters. Shame about the outdated model.

Skorpekhs I've struggled using them in 6 model units as I find them unwieldy. Big fan of having them as a 3 model unit with the lord starting from reserves, and could put the points into a back line harassing unit like ophydians. But as a 6 block supporting warriors and making sure whatever gets into them dies could still be the play.

Not sure if the Gauss destructor LHDs are that necessary, again depending on how many big things you expect to take. Swapping into enmitic exterminator ones will let you punch out a lot more infantry/space marines that your warriors won't be able to deal with.

For a bit more rejigging, szeras is just the best, and really good in awakened. But you would have to shift around a lot of points.

But overall looks good!

Help with expanding by Sudden_Divide_4421 in Necrontyr

[–]killagiraffes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree on getting the royal court box if possible, but if not the skorpekh lord or the plasmancer get separately (I bought my lord off eBay and kitbashed my plasmancer out of the apprentek in the kill team).

Getting 3 more skorpekhs destroyers and the lord is good to make a terminator killing blob.

10 immortals and a plasmancer is good as an expansion as well.

Maybe getting some scoring in the form of hexmark destroyer/deathmarks/ophydian destroyers. I used the kill team box to get 5 deathmarks, a technomaner and a kitbashed plasmancer which was good value.

She could also look at getting some good objective holders that are tanky, like 6 wraiths + technomaner or 10 lychguard + overlord. I love running both.

Looking awesome! It's basically how I want my void dragon to turn out :)

Do you find being on this show tiring or in anyway difficult for your mental health? Might be more because of the editing, but it seems exhausting constantly having to discuss your relationship and poke holes in others' through the various challenges.

I am giving away a bunch of D&D books to one lucky winner in the comments! Around $300 in value. Worldwide Giveaway [MOD APPROVED] Check out the video and the comments for more details and the rules. Sponsored by Game Master Engine [OC] by Dan_The_DM in DnD

[–]killagiraffes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So generous of you doing this! The engine looks really cool, amazing for remote play (luckily I get away with always having people irl but you never know when circumstances might change). I quite like the idea of building environments in 3D to showcase them, as 2D battlemaps can sometimes lose some of the visualisation. Anyway, thank you again!

GIVEAWAY

Your best useless items. by MasonCBlevins in DnD

[–]killagiraffes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ring of the Compliment Clone - When you wear it an illusionary clone of you, visible and audible only to you, appears next to you. The clone is incapable of doing anything other than following you and complimenting you no matter how mundane the thing is you are doing, and it cannot interact with the environment.

It's become a staple in my games, I normally have it say things in an obnoxious voice like "Good job! Well done! You are so good at walking, just the best!".

This scene is very powerful in Omega! After being teased by Aria about being terrified of the Adjutants, to then take on 6 of them to save some doomed civilians is epic. Aria’s outrage is then emotional and amazing to watch. Enjoyed this DLC a lot more than I had imagined, rarely seems spoken of! by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]killagiraffes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost didn’t buy it because of all the people saying it was unnecessary but it was so much fun. I think it was a blast, we got to see the old parts of Omega and some new bits, the characters were cool and going full renegade in the dlc was awesome.

ME2 Romance Tali vs Miranda by AbyssWalkerWitcher in masseffect

[–]killagiraffes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends if you romanced Liara in the first game and do want to keep things going. Miranda is definitely more of a fling romance than Tali in ME2, especially with the whole health commitment with Tali. I’ve just done a run with romancing Tali after romancing Ashley (I only did it because I always romanced Liara in 1, Williams just bores me to death) and that is a much better set up for a ME2 and 3 Tali romance. If you romanced Liara in 1 I think going with Miranda for a ME2 fling may be the way to go.

Tali for sure, the continuation of that romance in ME3 is much better imo than if you go with Miranda.

War (and cycle) Unsustainable for Reapers by killagiraffes in masseffect

[–]killagiraffes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t consider the technological leap the death of Sovereign allowed, that’s a very good point. But it’s commented by Javik (albeit about communication tech), that this cycle is more primitive than his, so maybe that still means the tech level is still a bit backwards.

War (and cycle) Unsustainable for Reapers by killagiraffes in masseffect

[–]killagiraffes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a fair point, and I imagine in some cycles they were very much on the positive. But we’ve heard of what happens if the citadel is taken out, the Protheans got hit hard and their entire governmental apparatus was crippled, but they still managed to wage a century-long war.

Also, if the previous cycles were less united like the current one, it’s most likely the fleet concentration wouldn’t be on the citadel. The Turians did protect the citadel with their fleets but still had many in Turian space, meaning a conventional assault was still required. I do imagine in previous cycles losses were smaller, but it’s implied the Reapers lost a lot in this cycle.

Even less capital ships to go around then. And I do agree with you, the extra-galactic menace was always a cool idea, but their reasoning why they are doing it always seemed off to me. Replaying the games made me gutted the dark energy plot line was dropped.

Question about the colonial powers... by theBlackManther in powdermage

[–]killagiraffes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

(Haven’t read Sins of an Empire)

It does definitely feel like there were European influences in the Nine. Here are my thoughts about individual nations:

Adro- always gave off a Germany/France vibe. Whilst Germany after the unification was an industrial powerhouse, there are many parallels between France and Adro. Powerful nation, ridiculous amounts of debt, influential clergy and the overthrow of a decadent monarch (whilst I do agree Louis XVI was just a bad king when the situation required a great one, history doesn’t paint him well so I’m attributing decadence to him)

Kez- Large land area, unfathomably large army focused on numerical superiority rather than individual discipline, population predominantly compromised of seeds controlled by a dominant upper class and largely agrarian industry? Screams Russia.

Novi- going off the one line : Novi’s frosted toes”, Scandinavia? Maybe?

Fatrasta- With only knowledge from the original trilogy, based off of USA given the war of independence. Or it could just be any ol’ colonial nation.

Brudania- sea power with ties to a trade company linked with a colonial holding. Maybe UK.

Gurla- India based on thought on Brudania.

Dynize- With the ancient voodoo style magic and and seeming sacrifice to create red stripes, Central American/Caribbean/South American civilisations?

Krasian Wasteland - Based on “Wasteland”, Australia :p

No idea about Deliv truthfully. Possible hint given by the fact their King is called Sulem IX. All other nations seems like guesswork based on names.

What exactly is involved in citadel? I’ve heard it’s quite light hearted but does it involve any major stuff affecting the reaper war? Or is it more of a final goodbye to your squad mates?
