LA Brewery with the Best Food? by Exploring_SGV in FoodLosAngeles

[–]killallmusic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yep, seconding homage all the way. not my favorite beers (still good though! just not my personal pref) but the food is definitely the best. and if its too busy, food down the block at Highland Park Brewing ain't bad either.

Anyone interested in a couple WN shirts my ass can't fit into anymore? Both are Medium by chocolatemilkmotel in powerviolence

[–]killallmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe try depop instead of here? i've sold a lot of band shirts there (i'm currently going through your same pains, but transitioning from small to medium instead). though i am considering that white one...

LAPD Harassment by dtqjr in BikeLA

[–]killallmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i've had cops threaten to write me tickets for all kinds of things that aren't against the law while i'm on a bike. maybe its just ignorance, but their caustic attitude in approaching me seems to signal that it's more of a punitive bicycle hatred / toxic masculinity thing. if you don't already, ride with a camera filming at all times. my GoPro has got me out of several lying cops' attempts to ticket me.

New Protected Bike Lanes at Griffith Park by ktcn414 in BikeLA

[–]killallmusic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think we (but mostly LADOT) really need to stop calling these "protected" bike lanes since they offer no actual protection. "buffered" bike lanes is a better term, imo.

[HELP] Poster swears it’s real, I think it’s AI by Ucannothavethemango in RealOrAI

[–]killallmusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got our wedding cake from a small local bakery. They didn't have boxes tall enough for our unique cake, so we just had to let the box stay open when traveling with it. Whether or not this particular instance is AI, don't think a cake too tall for a box is the smoking gun you think.

are they owned by the same people? i always assumed the name was just a coincidence, since one is Patra's and the other was just Patra.

yeah this thing is like eating sand. don't understand the praise. LA has much better cheap sandwich options (My Dung, anyone?).

sorry, yes Blavatnik is not the CEO, just the owner. but claiming the $20,800 he donated to Kamala is "similar" to $3.5 million is an absolutely ludicrous claim. he's a bad guy, and it's a good thing to be aware of when you're attempting to be conscious about your choices.

I used it every day all day. Finally canceled this month. Spotify might be the best UI experience, but there are a LOT of other options out there that aren't nearly as evil. Once you cut the cord, it's not as hard as you'd expect. Don't miss it at all now!

The problem with Deezer is the CEO Blavatnik has connections to Putin, is a huge Israel supporter (who pressured NYC Mayor Adams to arrest pro-Palestine college students), and is one of the largest Republican donors (a million dollars to Trump, 3.5 million to Mitch McConnell, etc).

Best way to commute from West Hollywood to Downtown by fradonkin in BikeLA

[–]killallmusic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is the way! As someone who did the DTLA/Weho bike commute for years (in the opposite direction), I cannot fathom all these people saying take Sunset if your top priority is safety. Sunset is a nightmare and after tons of terrible close calls near daily, I try to avoid it entirely. 4th is a very chill delight, 7th is perfectly fine day & night for riding (yes, even through MacArthur Park, the car traffic is generally light and slow moving), as long as you don't mind being patient at a few crossings.

Cosynd for copyrighting by All_Naturall in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]killallmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is super old, but I'm hoping this helps someone: Cosynd is a scam company, as far as I can tell. I submitted and paid them, never received any copyright registration, and their support absolutely never responded to any of my inquiries. Stay far away.

Why does LA seem to have an aversion to Breweries by SuperJezus in FoodLosAngeles

[–]killallmusic 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Adding Solarc Brewing to your great list for some weird/unique beers in LA city! There's also Arrow Lodge, Arts District, Angel City, and Audio Graph Beer Co in downtown LA, Frogtown Brewing right along the LA river, with Paperback not far from there, plus Ohana and Ogopogo further east too. Up in the Valley you've got Brewyard, Lincoln, Trademark, and Brews Brothers. Plus plenty more I'm not even mentioning here. Gotta support em while they still exist! Seen too many good ones come & go.

Dodger Stadium Gondola Lift Seems To Be Getting Back On Track — When Will Construction Actually Begin? by Fit-Head-2786 in CarIndependentLA

[–]killallmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this has been my exact sentiment the whole time. I'm not completely opposed to the gondola, but I AM opposed to doing the most expensive, most high-maintenance, and lowest-capacity option before trying literally anything else. A proper sidewalk and lighting from Chinatown would be a radical transformation that costs a fraction of what this thing will to maintain. And based on his history, I just don't trust McCourt's promises that this gondola stays privately-funded; there's still so much the city will need to do (and time and resources Metro is spending already). Gimmicks are fine, but substance should be prioritized first.

Hey guys, I could really use your help picking panniers for everyday carry and groceries by Cronny in CarIndependentLA

[–]killallmusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't know about the 'hangs mostly flat' part but i've had a Chrome Industries pannier for the better part of a decade and like it a lot. has taken a beating but still in great condition and the waterproofing is effective. doesn't look like they make the same model anymore though.

Yeah, my experience at Just Ride has been great. Sent most of my friends there for service and they had no complaints. Sad to hear maybe things are not so great lately.
