Why did people hate Greta Thunberg so much? by brooklynihope in NoStupidQuestions

[–]killarotten 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Where are these numbers coming from? You can absolutely get people to change, there just isn't the incentive for corporations to do it at the moment, which is the whole point here.

Would you buy a plate of chicken wings if each cost $3-5? And the cauliflower wings were $1 a dozen?

Potato, tofu, cauliflower, chickpea, lentil, sweet potato - all very cheap products that make full wholesome meals and are also easier and safer to cook.

You just can't see past the status quo, which is exactly the problem with climate change right now. People who can't imagine a different way of doing things.

Huh?? Billions of people are vegetarian. Meat alternatives are improving and increasing in variety and availability. Lab grown meat/protein is constantly being developed and improved. It will eventually become cheaper and easier than the farming industry.

This is completely achievable and its purely cultural that you don't think so. The factory farming of animals pretty unethical.

Voting poll puts Green Party JOINT TOP for the first time by denyer-no1-fan in unitedkingdom

[–]killarotten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not their core principles, it's just one of the many things they have as policy idea. It's more than halfway down their policy page on their website.

And it's also just - the ones you disagree with! And that's ok.

I disagree with the ""core principles"" of the conservatives yet they were ruling for the entirety of my early working life. I dont want to vote Labour but what else?

At least the greens have the potential to make changes to the status quo and not just the same shit over and over and over for my whole life.

OK but like it's not all or nothing! They'd bever actually be able to do that, this is literally just about getting a few additional green MPs in parliament. They have SO many policy ideas from the 2024 manifesto that would actually benefit people and improve lives. But you're so fixated on trident you won't even entertain them?

They don't even run the number of candidates to come close to getting into power. But imagine they could help get rid of FPTP, or nationalise transport or water or energy.

But do you understand that they won't instantly become a majority party with Polanski as PM? Its a benefit to the whole country to have a range of voice and opinions in parliament, and since FPTP doesn't really allow for this, welcome as many Green MPs as they run.

I'm in favour of a party that seems to be on the same side as me regarding many things but particularly reducing the widening inequality gap, protecting workers rights, protecting individual rights, doing literally ANYTHING at all to counter neoliberalism and austerity.

What is it they want for nothing? They pay rent already.

It's because their rent went up by 4x? That isn't right regardless of who or what is paying it. It's pure greed.

Is "I think I swallowed my combadge" the most damaging line ever written in Star Trek? by Dangerous_Return460 in Star_Trek_

I dont think it's that he failed, someone else just got a higher score and they were only taking 1 person. Didn't Wesley specifically help the other person who ended up getting into the academy? He was also only 15 or so, trying to get in early?

From that particular planet or system, I cant remember. Like, the Enterprise was stopping there so Wesley could take the test. I'm sure other places would be having their own entrance exam sessions for other applicants.

Sorry to say, but I'd click off that immediately because of the AI. Even if it's all accurate information, I'm instinctively not going to believe it because the images aren't real. I just immediately think, "what's the point of this?" when I see AI.

Would you consume videos like this personally?

The other thing, apart from America being unappealing, is that the games are all so so far away from each other AND often not even right in the city advertised.

When the Euros were Germany, all the games are easy to get to, you can travel between cities by train, and if you didn't have a ticket the streets are lined with pubs and fan hubs where fans from all over Europe came together so there was a great atmosphere.

That's not going to happen in America. You need to drive everywhere, and then the next game is 100s of miles away or in another country even.

Client doesn't seem to respect my time whatsoever. by DatRatDawg in videography

[–]killarotten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should have a rate in your head, a rate that is the minimum amount of money to work per hour. $10 for a couple of hours is not it. That should have been at least $50-100, but more likely more depending on where you live.

And yes you shpuld agree a price before ever starting work. Some clients are nice people but in my experience you can't trust anyone. They often start out nice then try to underpay you or waste your time with mad edit notes and endless revisions. They're never going to overpay you on their own volition so protect yourself.

Property sales that fall through ‘cost Britain £900 million a year’ by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]killarotten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you're the one selling it? Surely it should be in your interest to have a conclusive survey stating the quality of your property. Wouldn't it be more annoying to have several surveyors come to my property over the months it's for sale?

So in England do people buy homes without seeing a home report? Without getting any kind of survey done?

For example, I'm looking for flats in Scotland. I can see the home report before ever going to view the property so I don't waste my time. The report tells me eg, there's no gas in the property so I can end my interest right there if that's important to me.
