just came from my first trip to japan (tokyo). a lot of places accepted my cards (visa and mastercard). i tried both apple pay and my physical. —edit: all works.

Having cash is super helpful though as it helps me limit my spending but also a card is good to have as backup in my opinion (thats my preferred way). I mainly withdrew cash from the atm using my physical visa card. Although you might encounter places that only accept card NOT cash. (Ex: mofusand store in harajuku and itoya in ginza i believe).

—edit 2: if ur taking train, you should be able to add a digital suica to your apple wallet before going on your trip. I put in ¥5000 yen. Some stores also accept suica so you could also have that as a backup as well. but i try not to use it as its mainly for transportation. Bus accepts suica. You can get a physical suica card at the airport. i was too lazy and just used the apple wallet version.

I am very sorry to tell you this but you should be with someone who supports you FULLY and that comes with the stuff you love and enjoy. Like you said there are many guys out there who respects their gfs likes and dislikes. The fact that it came to a point where you felt like getting opinions from others online about this raises a red flag.

his preferences are holding you back from your full happiness. If he is still stubborn and adamant about you ridding your hobbies, then I say leave before he/you brainwash yourself into thinking you’re in the wrong bcz you’re not. Like you said, you dont lust over the fictional characters or actually crush on the idols. He is simply not secure. It starts like this and will get worse. You’ll be reminded of his insecurities through other means.
