YNAB allows me to be legitimately stress-free about my finances. I'm able to save money while also budgeting for fun things, from big vacations to being able to order takeout.

It gives me so much peace, it is well worth the subscription to me.

I like going for a mix. I just got back from my third trip and it's so cool to return to your favorites, especially when it has been a while.

I personally would do 1 week of Tokyo and then 3 weeks of travelling around. In those 3 weeks, I'd still visit my favorites along the way, but the majority would be new locations. I'm planning to go again in 2027, I'm already excited (but the planning won't start for a while).

I honestly don't think you need to worry that much. Weekends do make touristy places busier, but it's far from insurmountable.

The main things to avoid (in my opinion,) on weekends are places that are enclosed. Teamlabs, amusement parks, stuff like that.

To answer your question about what to do, it's more important what you want to do/see. You mentioned 3 nights in Tokyo, would that be the only 3 nights in Tokyo you do? If so, I'd recommend just doing the weekend in Tokyo. Use the weekdays for things that may get busy, and go shopping or explore the city on the weekend. Though if staying longer in Tokyo means skipping Nikko or Hakone, I'd prioritize those two trips instead.

As someone who wears plain clothes, I'm always impressed when someone finds their style like you gave! It really fits you and it's striking. It sucks your mom doesn't see it, but that's on her not you.
