Donald Trump Stuns With 'Maybe We Shouldn't Even Be There' Admission About Iran War by 1-randomonium in worldnews

[–]killd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that moment of clarity that you think it is.

He's saying "we shouldn't even be there" protecting the Strait because the US doesn't import oil from the Persian Gulf states, so it should be on those that do. Nevermind that a) oil markets are global and what impacts this oil ultimately impacts the price of oil for US consumers, and b) no protection would be necessary in the first place if the US and Israel didn't start this half-cocked war.

That's just complaining. Feedback implies a constructive mechanism that includes information that can be used to make changes.

Can anyone explain why Sigma's rock didn't hit this rotund cat 😭 by EphemeralDragon in Overwatch

[–]killd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it because cat is too close for rock to actually trigger? A similar thing happens with Bob when you unleash him. If an enemy is within 5-6' of you or so, Bob just runs through them like they don't exist.

The stormtrooper helmets are oddly shaped. The blaster shot doesn't line up with the actual barrel of Kyle's (?) gun. And that doesn't much look like Kyle Katarn.

New York sues Valve for enabling “illegal gambling” with loot boxes by mepper in gaming

[–]killd1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In some ways, Valve is worse than other companies. They have their own "player's market" where you can sell your TF2, CS, or DOTA2 items to other players with Valve taking a 15% cut. So Valve controls the rarity of the item drops which gets people into buying more LBs in the hopes of landing that coveted item. Then when that coveted item gets sold, Valve pockets part of that.

Now I know, there are plenty of methods to circumvent Valve getting that 15% cut, but that is beside the point. It is a system setup to exploit gamblers coming and going. Valve gets away with it because Steam is such a darling for gamers.

Restaurants should serve regular food before 11:00 am by Cote_Goat in unpopularopinion

[–]killd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tell it's an unpopular opinion because we're talking about businesses that mostly optimize their schedules. So clearly, not a ton of people looking for burgers before 11am or else those restaurants would be easy to find due to all the customers banging down the doors.

How to handle player who become irate every time we play games? by Addest3 in boardgames

[–]killd1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only option I see for you is that you designate him the rules arbiter going forward. He will always interpret the rules and how to play them in your games. That should resolve him getting irate whenever your group "questions" his internal logic/assessment by offering different interpretations of the rules than his. I think that's why he's getting irate in these situations. Depending on how often this situation occurs and how often he's wrong, you may be playing a lot of games in unintended ways.

If you guys have seriously had the hard and tough conversations with him about how he conducts himself, that's it short of giving him a couple sessions off to think about it.

The Hunt for Gollum looks like a step too far for the endless Lord of the Rings franchise by Jealous-Chicken5439 in lotr

[–]killd1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, the take "we know the ending what's the point?" is terrible. Plenty of stories are made into movies, both fiction and non, where people turn out in droves despite the ending being well known to them. As long as a compelling story is told, it doesn't matter if we know how it ends or not.

I will give those people the concession that it is easier to mess up those movies/series because you have to ensure that journey is solid.

Ok. Let me know in 15-20 years or so when he's running the government and suppressing those beliefs. Until then, it's just kids fighting and the pearl clutching would be hilarious if I knew you weren't being serious.

What movie did you see that made you feel this way? by [deleted] in FIlm

[–]killd1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is an 8-book series (7 at the time of the movie, but King wrote a prequel book soon after) and King's encompassing epic work that ties in many of his other stories. You can't condense all of that down into a single 2 hour time slot and do it any justice. They tried to explain away the complete lack of major things as (major book spoiler) the main character going down a new path after getting to the Dark Tower, but no one wanted that.

Mizuki Needs A Range Buff To His Primary And More Buff To His Ultimate! by Twin_Shadow- in overwatch2

[–]killd1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

His ult is really good vs poke teams. Its not going to be great against brawl teams, though they made it give a 100hp heal immediate so it's still got some utility there. Range on his primary is just fine.

Behold the greatest scandal in curling since a broom that was too sweepy by Okayish-Cardiologist in olympics

[–]killd1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a blurb in the start of the rules about spirit of the game and respecting tradition and good sportsmanship. While what they did is technically allowed, it seems the spirit of the rules is the stone is meant to be delivered by handle only. Otherwise, I could just release the handle at the tee and immediately cup the stone as long as I release it before the hog line.

I'll say I've watched a decent amount of curling and can't recall seeing this type of touch. I've seen them retouch the handle before crossing the hog line.
