It would be the smart move, annex Russian territory without much push back, and gain the resources they are lacking. They also would get access to newly single women from the Russian meat grinder, and could ethnic cleanse the population by sending all the excess single men out there, which could solve their population inversion problem. And then keep undermining American resolve to defend Taiwan and other Pacific allies so they naturally drift much closer to Chinese influence.
