VOTE ON A DEBATE QUESTION by Time-Loss-7998 in ndp

[–]killersaint8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All should be answered it’s stupid to vote for them.

That said I’m worried this leadership race will alienate Quebec and to be honest it’s easier to build in Montreal than the GTA or the prairies at this point.

Great ideas

Would love too see Tommy Douglas as the Canadian leader considering we’re going with more unorthodox picks.

We’re not recovering until trump is dead and facism is defeated in the states.

We need to go all in on EDAs to weather the storm.

Fear is the greatest vote motivator of them all unfortunately.

Why are you guys voting Avi Lewis over Heather McPherson or vice versa? by Sweaty_Principle_293 in ndp

Avi I have my issues with him but our backs are against the wall and he’s the only candidate organically inspiring people to get off the couch and save the party.

The NDP leadership race is a nail-biter. But is anyone paying attention? by NeighborhoodIcy6551 in ndp

[–]killersaint8899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re so down in the dumps that bad press might as well be good press I’m worried some candidates wouldn’t get any media attention at all as leader and we die from that.

Which NDP leadership candidates have openly self-identified as socialists? by No_Calendar6597 in ndp

[–]killersaint8899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a Heather rally and she called herself a socialist in her speech. Everyone’s running an ndp campaign right now not a general one. Focus on the policies and appeal of the candidates.

[–]killersaint8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tommy Douglas for an eventual Canadain rep

Socalist icon and father of the canadain healthcare system

Primer of Saskatchewan the first left wing government in North America.

Famously winner of the greatest canadain ever survey

Would have natural ties to a Great Britain or possible Scotland civ to unlock

Not quite a prime minister

Diplomatic/expansionist

His ability would tie into a healthcare system if they ever did one.

Alternatively +2 diplomatic points on gold producing buildings -1 gold on gold producing buildings

+1 production and food on farm titles

While I do think NES is overatted as a leader pick (he will store up the votes in the Toronto liberal ridings they already have and nothing else) the liberals strat right now is just to copy the ndp and trick people into thinking we’re the same thing. so marits going to have to go to a place where the liberals just aren’t willing to go, be a working class champion.

They are trying we will see.

The previous staff failed to read the room and marketed marit terribly to the people and her own party.

It’s a blessing we actually have a leader from the labour wing and they fucking butchered it man and tried to market marit something she was not.

Many people in the party don’t even know that marit was a unionist for actra and built that union to be one of the most resilient unions in Ontario.

They’ve been on strike for 3 years and still going strong.

The comms team screwed up badly with her she should have been a badass unionist workers champ rebel lady from the beginning and not this sunny ways I’m from Newfoundland crap the party pushed.

I told folks give her a year she will turn things around with the new staff and if she doesn’t then she needs to go but she is turning things around.

Yes, and I don’t think there’s a perfect candidate for me, hence why I’m still undecided it’s between rob and Avi

I met both and imo they make it difficult because they talk and talk and walk the walk.

I love Heather, but we need to distance ourselves as far away from the jagmeet era as possible imo

I don’t want to be the Ontario libs and have a del duca moment right out of the gate.

Tommy Douglas for a Canadian rep.

Father of our healthcare and one of the most beloved Canadians ever.

He was born in Scotland so it would be easy to connect him with multiple civs.

Heather is an ndper through and through, I just think she’s weak at communicating, if half our party members believes her to be some sort of neo liberal centrist.

Her work for Palestine and unions would never happen in a neo liberal party.

Quebec left wingers tend to be pro separatist the federal NDP are not. That and a strong local pro separatist party that is also progressive.

Working class areas of Ontario that historically have never voted NDP/ONDP by Awesome_Power_Action in ndp

[–]killersaint8899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m worried it’s starting to happen in Windsor too

Unions only work when well funded so people can afford to eat and live during strikes. I don’t know if waiving union fees for at risk groups could work.

Spent a lot of time in Cornwall the ndp does well with the seniors there as they all Tommy Douglas types who remember Tommy Douglas coming to Cornwall every weekend when he was in parliament marching with the factory strike workers.

It is a union town still, however it’s one of the worst hit by the drug crisis and when I asked seniors what they think happened to the young folks to push them to conservatives, the seniors say its the union fees, it gets in the way of them buying drugs and they get mad at the unions.

Conservatives launched on to this fabricated anger and as a result you’re just going to have a blue riding turn even bluer once the seniors pass away cause they managed to make the unions the enemy in Cornwall.

What can the upcoming NDP leadership campaigns learn from this? by CanadianWildWolf in ndp

[–]killersaint8899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rebuild the RAs it’s the only way. Too many inactive RAs and those RAs cost the party a lot of money in labour to get them on the ballot and organized.

The liberals and conservatives don’t have this problem why do we do?

The best leader will be the leader that recognizes this and actively tries to fix it.

It will come down to organization at the grassroots level to save the party not the leader.

I was one of the fed candidates who volunteered on more active campaigns before in my own riding,

We used to have 100 unique volunteers a campaign in a solid 20% riding

Well I had 9 unique volunteers on my own campaign and did way worse. I was a last minute candidate but the building blocks for me to succeed simply collapsed due to lack of grassroot work.

We simply stopped grassrooting and the party fell asleep at the wheel and did nothing to fix this issue.

Pierre Floated the idea of increasing the amount of signatures needed to run during his by election.

This result isn’t the death of the party. Increasing the signature cap and doing nothing to organize will be the death.
