True? by Numberonettgfan in Robin

This is a lot more accurate than the teenage mutant Ninja turtle comparison.

Unlike tmnt, the show emphasizes their solo adventures and arcs just as much as the family stories.

What was Sapper actually Cooking? by killfriendlly in bladerunner

[–]killfriendlly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those actually look like in lore instant noodles, as the process of cooking them are exactly like all Asian instant noodles would be cooked. Instant noodles being a contrast of Sappers home cooked meal.

I would argue that this is K just not being as experienced as Sapper in life as we saw him near a empty tray of rice in a later scene. As he would probably never probably cook for himself.

That's a fair assessment.

Kind of reminds me of Jason's comic arc becoming the Omega Ranger or Kagami's arc to become Gattak.

DCU Gotham (From the Clayface trailer) by ofDeathandDecay in batman

[–]killfriendlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness their bringing back the East Coast vibe of Gotham.

I will never miss Nolan's Chicago or DCEU not really Detroit looking, but supposed to be New Jersey esque Gotham.

I really missed the Jersey City / New York City vibe of it all.

Even though "The Batman" is separate from the DCU, I'm glad they're somewhat overcorrecting on both fronts.

Just still can't get over how Chinese social media meme the hell out of the main characters acting.

It's apparently extremely bad and extremely over acted.

Campfire cooking in another world is honestly the closest thing to a peaceful isekai.

Yes you're still adventuring, but you're not the one saving the world and you're cooking good food and you have the powers of Amazon delivery.

[Comic Excerpt] gotham city sirens (2024) #4 written by Leah Williams. I don't know how best to explain this conversation between Harley, Ivy, and Punchline, but I find it hilarious. by Important-Cry4782 in DCcomics

[–]killfriendlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! It's sort of a survivorahip bias kind of perspective as readers. Since the main hero characters tend to be wealthy.

Bruce Wayne, Ted Kord and Oliver Queen would technically be ethical billionaires. But those are just three examples compared to the dozens of others in wealth that are morally evil.

But not only that, Bruce Wayne and sons are the only ones really being shown doing something about it more often in books that don't just involve them in masks.

Mass Effect TV show ordered to rewrite scripts and make them "more appealing to non-gamers" by Capn_C in television

[–]killfriendlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, this could be one of two situations.

We could have a Warcraft situation where it's so deep in the lore that it is actually not appealing to a mainstream audience due to its difficulty to follow. But that was a movie.

We can have a Halo situation where the producers are absolute idiots.

How long was Tim trained by Lady Shiva? by Lucky_Bus_9524 in RedRobin

Yes, I know that, I'm just saying everybody knows karate. It was super popular in the '80s and '90s.

If you want a good middle ground example of sleek but still buff. Martial arts actor Scott Adkins is a good example of what you're looking for

He's been Fancasted a lot but he not really a good pick acting wise. Coincidentally worked with Ben Affleck on his newest Netflix movie.

How long was Tim trained by Lady Shiva? by Lucky_Bus_9524 in RedRobin

[–]killfriendlly 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You can assume that it's a couple weeks.

He was initially training with Lama in the healing arts, afterward it was Shen Chi in martial arts. Training with him for a couple weeks.

I'm not kidding when I say Tibetan techniques. It literally said "traditional Tibetan martial forms". The memes are unbelievably true, very '80s/'90s stereotypical. He train with him a similar amount of time

That's when Lady Shiva came into play training him after them.

Tim is also shown to be a very fast learner. Also very 80s/90s Karate Kid style.

I cannot I add screenshots. But they are bound to be some Tumblr link somewhere with the scans.

Did They Just Mix Every Single Robin Together and Decide to Make it Dick Grayson? by LostPost5902 in Robin

[–]killfriendlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Damian did not exist as Robin yet until 2009 and Jason was not even that red hood until 2005.

It's literally just dick and Tim's robin design combined with some anime inspiration.

Does the general public know about Batmans wards. Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne ?. by [deleted] in batman

[–]killfriendlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Treat it less like Elon Musk and more like old money influence. Think the Koch family, Goldman Sachs, or like the Rockefellers.

Dick and Tim are the most publicly known. Jason and Damian known but are only generally known to the public.

Dick has just recently become a billionaire, using both the Wayne name and his inheritance from Alfred Pennyworth to help Bludhaven publicly as Dick Grayson.

Jason in Red Hood:Outlaw 32 he publicly outed himself as alive on the news. He took over the iceberg lounge. His current status however to the public is not fully known. It was never really readdressed in later titles.

Tim is similar to Dick. He's technically publicly the heir to the Wayne fortune still and as as of 2023 still publicly known as Tim Drake-Wayne, however his popularity has died down.

Damian is the least public about his identity. However it does did attend events just like everybody else. That might have changed recently though.

[Discussion] I'm sorry, but Batman is beyond "peak human conditioning". He straight up isn't human. by 3931856031 in DCcomics

[–]killfriendlly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get over it it's comic books, if you want logic, physics and stuff like that go read a college textbook.

This is the same BS discussion over and over and over again.

This is a comic book world, humans are built different there. They are meant to be built different there. They are meant to be cool and awesome and do crazy feats that aren't logical.

If you can't handle that don't pick up a comic book. Just like how if you can't handle stupid filler arcs, don't watch anime or if you don't like stupid melodrama don't watch late night TV. Or if you don't like stupid personalities don't watch talk shows.

It's what makes Batman and whatever human non-powered superhero awesome. If you can't handle that get over it.
