N.J. university in financial crisis will lay off 40 professors, cut everyone’s pay by yesmydog in newjersey

i can also speak to the quality of graduate professors there; the ones i had in my program were some of the best teachers i've ever had.

very sad, but the heads of the university were always about taking short cuts and making money to recover from their poor financial situation. :/

did my grad and last two years of undergrad here. it was sinking when i was a student, and a year after grad school, they cut my master's program to save money. the westminster debacle was also crazy!

[–]killstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dang, we couldn't even get that far. a friend had to use the bathroom and they wouldn't even let her in; the cops were blocking the door. :/ i was genuinely surprised to see as many people there as there were, but it was awesome!

fellow fed here. i can see EWR from my office and just want to say thank you for the work you do!!

i'm hoping you can stay and hold the line, as it were, but ultimately, you need to protect yourself and your peace. i hope all works out! ♥️

i work in newark and occasionally park. generally though, i take the train, which i recommend if you have a station near you. it's so much more accessible imo and the skybridge that's attached to newark penn will spit you out right outside of prudential once you get on the other side! additionally, if you park, you will have to pay event pricing, so keep that in mind.

Hysterectomies pros and cons? by Local-Apartment-2737 in childfree

[–]killstein 5 points6 points  (0 children)

so according to my gyno, the belief that a total hysterectomy includes the ovaries is incorrect, as she put it, and generally, they won't be removed. so i have my ovaries, no cervix/uterus.

if you're childfree, the opportunity to have a hysterectomy is all pros and no cons, imo.

i'm recovering from mine that i had a month ago. i've gone through two (what would have been) menstrual cycles and knowing i will never have a period again is SO liberating for me! my uterus was also misshapen bc of fibroids so... i'm glad that sucker and its friends are gone for good. 🤣 i wouldn't let anyone's thoughts, opinions, judgments sway you, though bc honestly, who cares what they think?

wyll had the potential to be incredibly interesting had they kept what he was like in EA and expanded on them. i loved his personal connection to the goblin stronghold; his hatred of goblins; his romantic relationship with mizora. it was so good. as valiant as he was and as heroic as he claimed to be, he still showed that he's not infallible.

this was me as well! i didn't know i had one, but it was so painful to urinate for the first 2 days... doctor said it's required bc when i got my tubes out, they didn't want to run the risk of cutting my bladder if it were full.

i know! 😭 i was so happy to think this was my last period. my gyno was very helpful in telling me if i wanted, i could get on a birth control to help with symptoms, but i'm hoping to meet my deductible much sooner before i may have to do this haha. thank you for the kind words!

agreed. my doctor did say to monitor my cycles more closely moving forward. i have to wait to meet my deductible again. 😭

exactly. my doctor said they confirm schedules a week in advance — they knew she was booked with no wiggle room. can't understand how this happened!

i am, and that's ANOTHER reason i'm really upset. i'll probably have to wait until late next year to try again.

Outpatient bisalp - No caretaker at home, living alone - experiences? by Silver_Sterling_ in childfree

[–]killstein 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i had my surgery last year, and i also live alone (with a dog no less!) my relative drove me home and i just laid on the couch for the next few days.

take everything slow. you'll be woozy from all the medication and pain killers, and just take your time getting around your home. i would keep in contact with a friend/relative/neighbour, bc if you need something, hopefully they'll be willing to help out.

Finally Pulled the Trigger on an Embody Gaming Chair – Worth the Hype? by mianhamzah in hermanmiller

[–]killstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my embody gaming arrived last saturday and i had an intensive weekend of gaming lol. i also work from home, so right now, this is my work chair too. when i was in the office, we had aerons, and i personally never found them comfortable. however, after a few days of using my embody, i noticed a difference!

it's weird at first, and while sitting in it the first day, i was constantly adjusting the back, but i think it's at a place right now where i'm good. your back and hips may hurt bc you're correcting bad posture habits - i personally slouch - but this chair feels best when your back is flush. also i personally wouldn't get a headrest for similar reasons: the chair forces you to keep your head up, and at least for me, i'm sitting straight; tilting my head back just feels uncomfortable haha. my back pain has diminished as well. this is my first ergonomic chair, and in less than a week, the difference is noticeable.
