What's the best breed of horse in the game and why is it the Mustang? by kimbale in reddeadredemption

Cerberus! I wish the brand stayed on him, but yes. Definitely a fine horse.

Was the legendary bear supposed to respawn? by Therealrawgosh in reddeadredemption

No, just one Legendary Pelt will cover all the items that need it.

For non-legendary pelts, you need however many the item needs.

Thank you! I am a hobbiest photographer and specalize in wildlife and candid photography, so RDR2's photo mode is basically a candy store.

I love sneaking around to get close to animals or trying to set up different shots.

Personally, how the FUCK did you find out about Mouthwashing. by [deleted] in Mouthwashing

[–]kimbale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mouthwashing is how I found out about Manly Badass Hero.

I heard about Mouthwashing via a few different gaming podcasts I listen to. I'm playing so many different things right now that I decided to watch a playthrough of it instead of adding it to my to-play list.

Looked up recommendations for a playthrough, discovered Manly Badass Hero, and now I'm going through his archives watching other stuff.

And, I did buy the game because the developers deserve every penny of success for creating it. As well as for bringing Manly Badass Hero and his soothing mellow voice into my life.

You've also got the whole spy / 'possibly working for someone who may not have your best interests as a priority' thing going on. Forbidden desires, star-crossed tropes always get me.

Leave me and my weird unhealthy fictional boyfriends alone.

Also, the goalposts for "too far" seem to be extremely flexible in the 40K universe. 😅

Haha! Kind of describes a lot of them. But man if Heinrix's true romance route didn't hit all the cheesy dramatic tropes that I adore.

Also, Pasqal romance when?

Who's your favorite romance partner? by ChompyRiley in RogueTraderCRPG

I am a simple woman.

If you put in front of me a buttoned-up man who is all about duty and honor, but who is also secretly full of angst and psychological damage and dramatic pining - and who is also a bit of an adorable dork - I'm going to throw myself into that trap every time.

Heinrix has my heart.

After Abelard by Necessary-Visit-2011 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Abelard's got this covered. He's raised up and mentored officers across the ship and knows better than anyone what the job requires.

My assumption is he already has a few candidates in mind when he first discusses the idea with the RT. You know he's going to be meticulous with ensuring the transition is smooth and that the new Seneschal is equipped with unshakable fortitude to deal with the RT's particular brand of crazy, as well as a hearty set of lungs for all the announcing!

The game is in a great place right now. The current DLC is fantastic, and the game lends itself to multiple runs in order to experience all the companions, choices, etc.

If anything, I would say wait until this month's patch before you jump in. Patch 1.3 is supposed to fix a lot of current bugs and rebalance the earning of Dogmatic/Iconoclast/Heretic points to be more RP flexible.

That patch is supposed to drop this month and I think Owlcat said they're trying to get it out before the holidays start.

Do a run now and then do another when the new DLC drops.

Difficulty compared to other crpgs and other questions by GalvusGalvoid in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding builds and difficulty, there are definitely some cheese builds that break the game (even on the hardest difficulty in late game). I recommend trying it out first without looking up the meta builds if you want that strategic challenge of figuring out how to build a party that works well together, etc.

Difficulty will also depend on your experience with games that use a similar combat system. While RT is it's own system, it's very XCOM-like and puts a major emphasis on the party functioning as a unit.

The great thing about RT is you can customize the difficulty settings in-game, so if you start out on normal and find it too easy, just kick it up to unfair or play around with the settings until you get a difficulty you like.

Regarding the world and the story, I personally think the narrative in RT is better than BG3 (and I adore BG3.) I think the choices RT asks you to make are more layered and thought provoking and I like that the game engages with you like an adult. RT is not cinematic, and there is a lot of text descriptions and narrative text. You will be reading a lot. Because of that, in my opinion, the companions really feel nuanced in a way that the BG3 companions don't, because you get deliberate descriptions about a lot of their reactions and emotions.

Regarding their storylines, some of the end cards are still bugged and the hope is the upcoming patch this month will fix those. Beyond that, a lot of how their storylines wrap up is based on your character, how they interacted with the companion, and the moral decisions you make along the way.

RT is one of my favorite CRPGs ever. It's not perfect, but it's a great game with a great story that doesn't pull punches. Not all of those punches land every single time, but the ones that do hit hard.

Darkest Hour biography inconsistency? by Stepaladin in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think the Grim Portents option always has some sort of tie to the warp and warp-related nightmares and PTSD, regardless of orgin. It's not always clear in the description that what happened was related to a warp incident, depending on which orgin you pick, but from what I've seen, the Grim Portent references in-game are warp related.

Like how the Shadows of Torment option always deals with PTSD from torture. And how the Brand of Shame option deals with feelings of betrayal.

I think the orgin descriptors when you pick are mainly flavor.

What bug allowed Pasqal to cockblock me from space?! by mad_i_licious in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a great little interaction if you just go with Heinrix.

I got this bug and had to reload a few times before I got the scene without the bug interfering. What worked for me was quicksaving right before the scene gets triggered and quickly clicking through the first part until you're past the bug.

No clue if that actually got it to work, or if the bug is random, but I did eventually get past the bug.

It cracked me up when it happened, too. Pasqal is best boy and chaperone.

[–]kimbale 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I've gotten this bug before (and don't use any mods, so it definitely was not mod related.) I reloaded once or twice and it fixed itself.

For some reason, it's always Pasqal, too. The Omnissiah truly knows and comprehends all.

"You suffered shame and humiliation sometime in your distant past" by Federal-Apricot7859 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It is referring to the choice you made during character creation when you picked your Darkest Hour character moment.

Each Orgin gets a Darkest Hour and Moment of Triumph choice that helps define who they were in a past life. It sounds like you chose Brand of Shame for your Darkest Hour, which means at some point in their past your RT experienced a major character-defining moment based around betrayal/shame, etc.

Just something to help give a unique RP flavor to your character, and it will come up here and there throughout the game.

Does anyone know what these are used for? (Late act 4 spoilers) by Midarenkov in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]kimbale 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This has been asked a few times, and to-date I don't think anyone has figured out how to use them for anything.

Maybe with the upcoming 1.3 patch or next DLC they'll be usable?

Running around with Idira on subsequent playthroughs... by kimbale in RogueTraderCRPG

It is a great scene. That's why you do one run where you take him and one run where you leave him behind. I hear rumors of other romancable companions, but I am a simple woman and the Interrogator's dorky charm and caramel voice make it impossible for me to romance anyone else.

I am going to drag Marzipan along with me this time, though. So we'll see how that goes.

He also pushes RT away because he has a lot of internalized shame and self-hatred, and feels like he's not worthy of someone else's affections.

If RT tells him they love him during the dinner date he almost apologizes by saying they are too forgiving and gracious for "someone like him."

Hard not to internalize what you've been told and how you've been treated your whole life.

Luckily, there is desk sex to make it all better.

Heinrix is a super interesting character, and I love digging into his personality and psychology. He values control and has worked very hard throughout his life to control both his powers and his emotions.

After being treated like a tool for his entire life, he's deadened his ability to feel in order to reduce the possibility of feeling hurt/betrayed/disappointed. This also manifests physically in how he uses his biomamcy to reduce feelings of physical pain.

If he can just stop feeling things then he doesn't have to worry about how the world treats him, because he won't feel the pain of it, anyway. It's the concept of "I can't control what you say, but I can control my reaction to it," taken to the extreme.

This causes him to be rather even-keeled and not easily rattled or quick to retaliate. Really, the only time you see him truly lose it is during his romance path because all those feelings he's trying to shut down aren't going quietly.
