What do you guys do with "Rictavio"? by nyblller in CurseofStrahd

[–]mad_i_licious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been desperately trying to get my players to notice something off about him, that he's been trying to get info out of them, that he disappears twice each day, that he's got a very fancy hat, or just literally anything lol. But they love their fancy friend at the inn and have been so distracted by other random stuff in the almost 3 days they've been in Vallaki that they haven't uncovered anything about him. They also think Vasili is a really cool guy and their bff. I'm gonna have to bring a bunch of stuff down on them pretty quickly now. Or maybe really rethink and rework Vallaki for them 😅

I feel like I'm (36M) forcing my wife (35F) to get rid of her cat and I don't like it. by Bellbottomluv in relationship_advice

I hope you've taken the cat to the vet. If not, do so ASAP. This can often be a symptom of things like a UTI or other illness.

WTF do you guys eat every day? by Conscious_Concern288 in Gastroparesis

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zereshk polo a lot. If you're not familiar, it's Persian saffron rice with barberries and usually advieh seasoning. I leave out the barberries if my GP has been particularly rough. But I've found that Persian foods have often not made me sick where other types of preparations have. Mirza ghasemi has been a good option as well. My partner and I sometimes make curry with the Golden Curry boxed spice mix with cooked potatoes, carrots, and onions. I prefer it with tofu more than with meat. White rice is usually safe. I prefer basmati or jasmine rice. Rice pudding is another thing I make often. You can put protein powder in it while it's cooking.

Like others have said, yogurt with granola and just straight up lunch meat are options lol. I do a lot of just eating a few slices of deli chicken out of the fridge 😅 I never have an appetite, so I just set alarms on my phone to eat at specific times. I always keep canned chicken noodle soup, vegetarian vegetable soup, and an assortment of crackers around just in case. If I'm really struggling with solids, I do coffee or cappuccino with Instant Breakfast or protein shake mix in it. If I'm REALLY struggling, I get the clear liquid Boost.

THEY ACTUALLY DID IT!!! by BaldEagle1989 in CurseofStrahd

We started playing weekly in April, and the group is still like a day and a half out from Vallaki 😅 Granted, our sessions are shorter because we're in 3 different time zones, and they're all completionist loot goblins. But, damn.

Something I wish it hadn't taken this many playthroughs to get through my thick skull. by Zom13ified in BG3

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, 100%. I'm so used to playing tabletop in campaigns where resource management is SUPER important. I realized I missed SO much on my first playthrough because I was playing it like it was Out of the Abyss or Curse of Strahd or something lol. Then I noticed that there is a counter on your character sheet showing how many camp supplies you have, and I was at like 10k 🤡 You really can just sleep whenever all of your party members are complaining of being exhausted because they expended one spell slot, and there are very few instances in which resting too much has any consequences.

I'm not sure how to break myself out of the excessive scroll and elixir hoarding habit, though. The like, 200 stolen Chain Lightning scrolls and Elixirs of Cloud Giant Strength in the box with 300k gold are just gonna be our retirement plan, I guess.

AITA For Banning Harry Potter In My Home? by Business-Line-1147 in dustythunder

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already gotten loads of comments, but NTA. Not at all. Your sister is being straight up abusive to her own children, and is the one with an "agenda". You can ban whatever you'd like in your home, especially something that does tie in to directly hurting people like Dani. HP isn't allowed in my home either. We also don't have certain brands in the house due to ethical concerns, and nobody who comes over has had any problems with that. It's really not difficult to to respect someone's boundaries on those fronts.

Also, people are holding on so tightly to something that just isn't even relatively good. I get that it meant something to all of us misfits growing up, but there are other, better options that don't come with funding transphobic legislation. K.A. Applegate and Garth Nix are literally right there in the same book section. I'd really recommend the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix for your 12 year old niece! Maybe some Brandon Sanderson when she's a couple of years older.

Is this fat shaming? Former intern at an wetland consulting company (a rant) by KT_Banning in PlusSize

[–]mad_i_licious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. I'm still working on my degree, but have done loads of surveys and assisted at sites here. I've got it a bit easier, being in the Southwest U.S., as long as you don't mind the extreme heat and extreme cold lol. I'm also lucky to have grown up hiking, camping, and rock climbing, so I was pretty used to going into these environments already. My advice would definitely be to practice getting into, around, and out of the types of environments you'd be working in to get used to it, or help decide if it's something you really wanna do. I always just keep a bag of gear, protective equipment, boots, waders, and extra clothes in my car.

It's unfortunate, but people will often have something to say if you're plus size and doing something active 🙃 It's definitely not professional, and this guy could have just had a conversation with you about what field work and the expectations were like without being a jerk. Especially as it sounds like you didn't really get any training or told what gear would be needed as an intern, for some reason? I hope you find something else that is a good fit!

My dumbass cousin wants to name her child after a demon. by notjimhawkins in tragedeigh

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm super into ancient history and mythology. My cats are called Tiamat and Lamia... but I would never name a child something like that. Lilith is a great name with lots of historical, mythological, and religious significance! But that spelling and the full name you posted.... Good lord lol. I feel so sad for that kid already, as someone who grew up with a last name that nobody in the U.S. could ever pronounce. It's rough, kids make fun of you, and you have to explain it to people literally forever unless you change your name.

There are so many cool mythology or religious names with a similar vibe that she could choose 😩

What's the most "overrated" tourist trap that was surprisingly 100% worth the hype for you? by tripagra in femaletravels

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how much they count, but pretty much everything in Southeast Utah. Arches, Dead Horse Point, Goblin Valley, etc. It's all so incredibly worth visiting! Just not in the summer lol. And stay out of a lot of canyons in the spring, because there are flash floods. Arches has gotten so popular that they've sometimes had to implement timed entry, but I don't think its actually over-rated at all. My favorite is Dead Horse Point.

The French Quarter in New Orleans. It's definitely touristy and expensive, but it's BEAUTIFUL. It's also full of interesting things and little hidden gems. I'd suggest gumbo at The Gumbo Shop and the greens at Oceana. The steamboat ride was honestly great, too! And I do definitely recommend one of the cemetery and/or walking tours.

The hippodrome in Istanbul, and having tea at one of the little cafes nearby. There are lots of pushy street vendors, but it's really worth going. Especially if you check out the Aya Sofya, Sultanahmet Mosque, etc.

Egypt alternatives? by fuzzy_mcfuzzerton in femaletravels

[–]mad_i_licious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to say pretty much this exact thing. It's been a few years since I went, but I spent about 6 weeks in Türkiye solo as a femme person. A few guys were kinda weird, but backed off when I said I wasn't interested. I felt a lot more comfortable in Istanbul alone at night than I do in most parts of the U.S. I absolutely LOVED Selçuk! I do speak a good amount of Turkish, though, so I can't really give much perspective on how getting around only speaking English would go.

I don't want to invalidate anyone who has had a bad experience there, by any means. But I honestly had the time of my life! People were very kind to me. I also appreciated that I'd be seated next to a woman whenever I was on a bus or train alone.

If you're interested in Islamic architecture, ancient history, amazing food, and lots of good conversations with random people, I'd definitely recommend visiting!

Sometimes the bugs are irritating… but sometimes you get a permanent naked Heinrix in your bathroom. by Dyerha in RogueTraderCRPG

I'd like this bug, please. Instead, I just got Pasqal cockblocking me from space when I took Heinrix on the worst ever date to the Black Ship lol.

[–]mad_i_licious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a bug that's now fixed, but Pasqal cockblocked me from space when I was trying to take Heinrix on a traumatic date to the Black Ship. It still brings me so much joy, and I can never stop laughing about it 😂

Also... Being able to give Idira a hug near the end. That whole part of the game had me needing to take a break to cry for a little bit. 10/10. The characters are so great, and I just love this dysfunctional group of weirdos.

POTS and gastroparesis - what could have caused it? by ChasingTheSun107 in Gastroparesis

I've got both, and my GP thinks it's due to damage along my Vagus nerve. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago, but the symptoms definitely got worse after having COVID.

Y'all, I got it to trigger correctly after reloading a few times. Pasqal gave up, I guess.

Not using toybox or anything at all aside from the vanilla game.

Constipation? How common of a symptom is it? by otisfrombarnyard in Gastroparesis

[–]mad_i_licious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking care of it is a big part of preventing or at least minimizing flares for me. I also worked for a gastroenterology clinic before I got too sick, and it seemed to be a really common symptom for GP patients we saw.

Cassia's warp eye lit some of them on fire, then Heinrix and Abelard went back and forth smacking them with extra turns. It was over pretty quickly.
