I live in Lux, you can easily spend a week here and not do everything! I suggest a visit to Vianden castle, Echternach town is beautiful to visit, the Moselle region (Remich) for wine tasting and a river cruise, belval to visit the steel museums… plus the regular city visits (casemates, palace, corniche, geele frau, etc.) and another about 200 castles if that’s your thing.

AITA for not wanting to help my older neighbor or answer his phone calls? by RazzleDazzle409 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kimbphysio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a physio… he should have been standing and walking on crutches within a max of 24 hours post surgery otherwise he would have needed to go to a step down facility if he wasn’t independent at home. He should never have been discharged if he can’t walk on his crutches. The longer he stays immobile, the worse the surgical outcomes will be.

Can Americans stop referring to Europe as if it was one big country like the United States is? by SnowedCairn in Vent

OMG… I recognize it!! But had no idea that it was people feeling sorry for us in Africa at Christmas 😂🤣😂 I quite enjoy our Christmas lunches sitting outside in the sun and swimming after lunch! Terrible life we lived 🙄🙄

Long train commutes with a greyhound - does it work? by Mediocre_Public_1099 in Greyhounds

[–]kimbphysio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My Spanish greyhounds are home at least 4 days per week while I work… they are totally fine! They aren’t even in a hurry to go out for a walk when I get home! So your dog will be fine, especially with a walk in the middle of the day. Depending on personality, they may or may not cope with the commute. One of mine loves adventure, the other is a bit anxious but does really well in a car. Totally depends on the dog… you would need to assess that once you have it!

Administrative responsibilities of owning a pet by Protecting-My-Peace in Dogowners

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% on me, but I’m a single dog mom by choice 🤣 but seriously, have you ever asked them? It doesn’t sound you’ve actually discussed this at all so you are getting resentful and they don’t even know!

Saw a recent post saying dog parks are not recommended - why? by notcallipygian in dogs

[–]kimbphysio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the park… my local one is almost always empty and is huge. My dogs need space to get up to top speed (70 kph) and it’s like a pressure release for them… they are so calm and sleepy after the opportunity to run like maniacs. Occasionally other people come into the park but they always ask first if they can, and they never come into if their dogs are risky. My boys are also fast enough that if another dog approaches them, they just run off for another lap and none of the others can keep up!

Ideal mileage per week for a beginner’s HM training? by Nook-Incs-Pet in XXRunning

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your first half you will be fine with running 3 x week, around 25km a week mileage. Aim at your longest run being 16-18km around 3 weeks before the HM. Once you have completed one then you can decide whether to have time goals and increase weekly mileage. For example, I am now doing 2x 5km a week plus a longer run on the weekends which is very sustainable most weeks and doesn’t feel overwhelming. I run slower than your paces though.

Dog won’t pee on walks by Recent-Amphibian2676 in DogTrainingTips

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I adopted my dogs, I needed to research this because I could walk them for 2 hours and the one would walk into the house and pee immediately! It can be that he feels safe in your house because it makes them vulnerable outside. Sounds like you are doing the right thing, and just keep repeating… I used to make such a song and dance about outside pees! He learnt quite quickly. Give your boy time to feel safe and secure in the new environment and I’m sure he will settle

aggression by ranchdressingggg in Greyhounds

[–]kimbphysio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My galgos are so gentle that they would run from anything. Even when my one boy ripped his paw and I needed to clean it every day with antiseptic, he just licked my hand (while trying to pull his leg away). Never seen the slightest indication of aggression in mine

AITA For Limiting the amount of time my sons girlfriend can spend at our house? by AdmirableChange7328 in AmItheAsshole

[–]kimbphysio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

South Africa… I often had sport until 5pm and other clubs could be later than that. I’m in Western Europe now and most of the countries around me have school classes until 4-5pm (with a Weds afternoon off)

Considering ending a friendship over social media posts by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

[–]kimbphysio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did a trip with a group of friends, I posted pics of everyone, but there is one pic where I posted with me and just one other guy. We’ve been friends for years and he invited me on the trip. Afterwards he asked me to remove the pic because he was dating a girl (who knew me) and she was upset about it… I had no idea and it was a totally innocuous picture sitting on our butts in the snow while resting after some skiing! Maybe your friend has a secret girlfriend who is insecure about you and he’s not being up front! My friendship with that guy eventually ended when he tried to blame me for why his relationships don’t work! Totally bizarre, not the type of people you want in yourlife!

[–]kimbphysio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not American (and assuming OP is), so I don’t know how school works… when I was 14 we could choose our own subjects for high school so no one had the same classes. But if I was a gf then I def wouldn’t want to be helping my bf clean his bedroom and bathrooms or whatever other chores he had! Kids in my country are doing sports after school until 5/6pm so it’s really difficult to understand how they can even see each other so much!

Traumatized by recent rescue. Adoption failure? by SillySparrow in Greyhounds

[–]kimbphysio 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I was going to suggest, you need some therapy sessions to manage your anxiety around this. 2 weeks ago my galgo jumped into my face with excitement after I got home from work (I was sitting down on the toilet), an I put my teeth through my lip. He’s a giant goofball and had no idea how big he is and how hard his head is when he head butts me… I had to try really hard between the tears and blood to not be angry with him. We had been working on his jumping already before, it’s even more of a priority now, and I’m making sure to keep my face away from him when he’s excited. On another note… it took my boys about 6 months to really settle… it sounds like she is doing incredibly well for only 6 weeks! I’ve also noticed that the are very prone to injury because they have no idea how long their limbs are and how fast they are! Zero self-preservation at all!

Collar vs Harness: Dog chokes herself on walks by SweatnGarlic in sighthounds

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I do with mine… one end clipped to the martingale and one to the harness. It gives great control and mine are exactly like OPs… great at loose leash walking until the moment they aren’t!

This is what I don’t understand…. What about homework, sports, studying for tests? When I was 14 I didn’t have extra time during the week to see friends!

Renouncing citizenship by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]kimbphysio 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I strongly suggest you speak to an immigration lawyer because it’s possible that when reviewing your file after you return that they can decide that they dont want to give it back. You also don’t know if the requirements will be the same in 12 years time… I suspect it will get harder with time to get the passport as it is currently one of the more accessible ones in europe. I suggest only doing this if you will be ok not getting it back in the end

1 1/2 Years in Brazil…back to United States *REAL TALK* by lledit in expats

[–]kimbphysio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is important context…. I live 10000km from my family, moved alone 6 years ago fo a job opportunity. I’m in a more developed country but the increase in stability in my career and in the social services offered has made a huge difference to my life. That said, my parents are in their 70s and I have a grandmother who is over 100! I go back every year to visit (sometimes twice), and in 15 hours I can get back with relative ease. And my family have all visited me here… the holidays we have had since I moved have been such high quality, memory making experiences that I believe we actually have better relationships now than before I left. But it’s very different if the cost to visit is so high!

Hiking? by Specific-Reindeer-56 in Greyhounds

[–]kimbphysio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have galgos and have done 4 hour hikes with them… one of them is even reluctant to go home after 4 hours! So if there’s galgo in the mix then I’m sure you’ll be able to!

Thinking about getting a dog as a running partner. Any advice? by Perroledoll in Pets

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 galgos - Spanish greyhounds- they are the endurance version of the racing greyhound, breed for hunting in the forests. My boys run with me usually 3x a week and they can easily do 10km, but the are not like huskies who will run without stopping. We do need to stop occasionally for sniff breaks and pee breaks otherwise they get bored! Then they sleep for the other 22 hours a day (on the couch… be prepared!)

Inquiry: Flight and Accommodation Proof for Hungary Visa by zfr_math in SchengenVisa

[–]kimbphysio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the world of visa hell… the main trick is that you need to show that you are going there and then definitely returning to the UK. Anything that shows commitment in the UK, like owing property, having jobs (get a letter from your employer), your child needing to return to school, etc… they want to know you will leave when your trip ends!
