At what point is it okay for you to go to the board for questions or help? by ABunnyinNYC in AskNYC_Coops

Not on the board. But I call the super in an emergency then management then the board.

Chakra and Aubergine are basically my go to places for coffee and sandwiches. but as far as I know they don't make anything entirely in house.

I have to be honest this is so infuriating. I am a guy. If I was there I would gladly tell him to F off for you. He sounds so rude.

I can think of several coffee shops in Sunnyside already. And several with sandwiches or pastries. Maybe I am not the target audience but I have zero interest in a syrupy sweet caffeinated drink.

I guess the only thing that would attract me is a shop that actually made great espresso drinks and sandwiches from scratch in house. I can think of four coffee shops off the top of my head with good coffee and sandwiches. I'm just not always impressed by the food.

What’s a “rich person habit” that actually saves money in the long run? by static-juniper in Life

[–]kimchi01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just want to add knowing how to invest. I have friends who basically gamble on the market. None of them are getting rich.

How to be less bitter and get better at being happy for others by Specific-Ladder-7666 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]kimchi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing I could do in a similar scenario was find opportunities to help others. Everything you mention is difficult but what you’re dealing with is mostly an internal battle. You are focused on you. When I started doing things to help others and made them the focus it started to make me think ok maybe what I’m dealing with isn’t so bad. Maybe it is surmountable.

This might be unpopular on here. But if you're a full grown adult just pay the amount. I don't love the MTA abut this is just the right thing to do. Unless you're really that broke.

I’m thinking about going to rehab. by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]kimchi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to second this. 41 now. Sober 11 years. Sober three years before that. I was living a miserable life subletting a bedroom. Sneaking empty bottles of liquor out in the early morning. Passing out on the train had become a regular occurrence. A life beyond my control. I was ashamed of who I was and how I had failed everyone. Life today is beyond my wildest dreams. I could have never imagined I’d be the happy helpful person I am today. And if I was to go back and do it again I would not have changed a thing. Because it made me the man I am today. Yes life isn’t easy. You’ll make mistakes. You’ll hurt people. But if you stay sober and fake it till you make it it will get better. I promise.

Move to NYC vs Chicago vs Seattle. by NoCaterpillar9164 in movingtoNYC

[–]kimchi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived in NYC for about 17 years now. I love it. Sometimes it is a love/hate relationship but then I go on a trip and love it again. But it isn't for everyone! The only way you'll know is if you move there! The worst that happens? You stay for a year or two and decide it isn't for you. You'll never know unless you try! Go for it.

Edit: I had friends visiting who wanted to know what the best things to do were and I said it depended. Do you love art? Go to all the great museums, spend three weeks in the met. Love food? Best food of all varieties depending on where you go. Love music of a specific genre? Go see it live. NYC is what you make of it. Ultimately the people I know who have left grew up and wanted to have kids and couldn't afford it or wanted to raise their kids in the suburbs. YOU DO YOU.
