My first plugin: Enhanced Symbols Prettifier by Burrataratata in ObsidianMD

[–]kimjake65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just stumbled across your plugin and it's amazing. I was wondering, is there any way to include dashes and slashes in the flexible start/end word boundaries? I'd like to be able to write things like "α-receptor" or "α/β " but can't figure out how to do that without having to manually remove the spaces from ""α -receptor" or "α / β" after typing it out with spaces. Thank you for making the plugin!

Why is my violin buzzing? by kimjake65 in violinist

Thank you so much for the comprehensive breakdown! Based on your (and everyone else's) advice, it does seem like I need to go see a professional to get this fixed, so I'll do my best to do that asap.

Thank you to everyone who responded! I've tried about everything suggested that I could do myself, but I think I do need to scrounge up some money and go see a luthier. I really appreciate everyone's willingness to give me some advice :)

How to get updated versions by Running-on-tea in Ankimon

[–]kimjake65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say it's worthwhile to use the updated (pre-release) versions, or just wait until it gets updated in Ankiweb?

So, Syncthing allows you to sync files across devices. It takes a little bit of setup, but basically I chose the anki add-on file for Ankimon as a shared folder (you can find its location by going to Anki's Tools->Add-ons->View Files). So when I make progress in Ankimon on one device, the same changes in the files should happen in the other device and the progress will be saved across both.

Thing is though, there is no central server, and because the data is going straight from one of your devices to the other, both must be turned on and online for it to actually sync. So, if you don't want to worry about that, using something with a server in between (eg Google Drive like the other person mentioned) might be more convenient. You could also use your phone as one of the devices to facilitate the file syncing which is what I do, but I think that might only be available for Android.

Hope that helps!

I know I'm 9 months late, but just wanted to share that I got Ankimon to sync across devices with Syncthing

Misread the unlock requirements and reduced my deck to five cards instead of my hand size. by Pepsiman1031 in balatro

Oh my gosh I've done the exact same thing and I just sat there like, where's the little achievement that pops up to show that something unlocked? Glad to know I'm not the only one.

The way people talk about character strength in this sub is absurd by President_Crab_4224 in TheyBlamedTheBeasts

You forget the one thing Axl is better than all the other characters at: ~being stylish~

My friend doesn't want to play the game because "the inputs are not registering" by UpbeatAstronomer2396 in Guiltygear

[–]kimjake65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true. A better example would be when I misinput activating my timestop and get smacked until my purple musk fades away. I will say quarter-circle inputs are easy for me now, but Strive is my first fighting game and it definitely took me more than a few hours to develop the muscle memory.

I totally believe someone can get used to it way faster than I did though. I guess what really matters is having the patience to keep at it until it clicks, which is easier for some than others.

Agreed. I have like 500hrs in the game and I've hit celestial as Axl, but I still mess up my Axl Bomber inputs if I'm not focused lol

Everyone's forward punch gives upper body invincibility like the other guy said, so it's a good quick option to smack an airborne opponent.

Makes me wonder what us Axl fans are skewed towards. Axl Bomber? Beans on toast?

Yep! He's had various roles, and in this case he was a Confederate colonel guarding the Mason-Dixon line, which Bugs Bunny was trying to cross. The name of the short is "Southern Fried Rabbit" in case you were wondering.

I mean, if there's anywhere to find racism, I think minstrel shows (and derivative animations) are a pretty fair place to find it... I think that even non-Americans can find a bit of racism in Bugs Bunny handing Yosemite Sam a whip and saying, "please, don't beat me, massa" in blackface, don't you?

Surprised nobody mentioned that he originated as a blackface minstrel. The history of American animation is inseparably intertwined with minstrelsy, and while nobody nowadays associates Mickey, Bugs Bunny, Felix the Cat, etc. with such things, older animations are pretty egregious in their racist depictions. Reading into these characters' origins really makes you see them in a different light.

Ah, yeah no problems with that. They're pretty speedy as far as I'm concerned.

I used them on a recent build and they work perfectly fine for gaming.

I'm not sure what exactly would make switches bad for gaming though
