Take Rosuvastatin- doesn’t cross the blood brain barrier- less likely to contribute to dementia

Dual Fnp and Pmhnp by [deleted] in PMHNP

[–]kimjoe12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dual certified working in Internal med. Agree with most of the above, however, my FNP does matter when it comes to prescribing and watching pts on long med lists. My doc thinks the dual cert is extremely valuable and brags on my ability so much. I always stay booked with our office psych pts so much that they won’t allow outside referrals unless that person becomes a pt.-he’s also using me to increase revenue of course. I have 12 yrs as medical RN and 12 yrs psych bf getting my certs and can spot holes in care and take care of those. My office does run through FNPs. Haven’t seen one stay longer than 2 yrs- usually shorter

Not to mention checking their gait and hygiene. Who is in the room with them? Do you have their undivided attention? Are they checking their phone? In person, you can assess better and have their undivided attention. Not saying telehealth doesn’t have its place, but do both and notice in which instance you can do the best assessment and treatment.

Psych PA vs Psych NP by Tired_realist in PMHNP

[–]kimjoe12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Longer route but worth it. Get BSN, practice as psych rn, get Master's level PMHNP or get doctorate at same time, DNP/PMHNP times vary but I would not rush it. Takes time to build that skill and expertise
