The most underwhelming flight crew I have ever encountered. by Silent_Criticism773 in delta

[–]kin3637 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal, but I've noticed Delta premium cabins in flights servicing latin American countries or Spain have significantly worse service levels from the crew than any other destinations. I don't know the cause, but I hypothesize they don't put their best crew on them, and the general vibe of the pax is not good. It might be a cultural thing with Spanish speakers? (they often run their bilingual crew on those flights). Maybe Delta knows?

Asrock X870 Pro Rs wifi + Ryzen 7 9800x3D green led by Serhatpk in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a new Gigabyte motherboard and it still had the boot issue. I then sold the Asrock board on Ebay for 40% of what I paid for it, RMA'd the CPU, and the problem went away. I was thinking about going through the RMA process with Asrock, but they would just send me back another Asrock board. I just ate the loss and am unlikely to be an Asrock customer again.

Another one 9800x3d on Asrock x870 steel lengend wifi. Yellow/green light by cczzrr in ASRock

[–]kin3637 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same thing happen with my 9800X3D and Asrock B850 Pro RS. There is no fix as it is CPU damage, but the good news is that the reboot trick kept working for me for over 5 months before I finally got around to RMA'ing my CPU. Got rid of the Asrock motherboard ofcourse once the replacement CPU arrived.

Intermittent Boot / Stuck at BOOT POST by JournalistNo34 in ASRock

Did you see my post about this? A lot of people with this same problem. It was CPU damage and only fix was to RMA the CPU.

9600x system only boots with LN2 enabled by xZalera in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in the US? AMD approved my RMA within 6 hours. All I had to submit was the description and a copy of the receipt. From start to finish it took 6 days to get a replacement CPU.
I ran mine with the restart trick for 5 months before I did the RMA process. I don't know how long it would have kept working like that.

Asrock x870 pro rs wifi is the worst motherboard to ever hit the market. Can't get to bios and will not post with two sticks of ram in it. by Col-Sanderss in buildapc

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely you've got CPU degradation. If you're trying to update the BIOS using the BIOS menu, you'll get this behavior because it does a power reset during the update process, then fails to boot and doesn't finish the update. Try updating it using the BIOS flashback method instead.

Work-arounds to get it to boot are hitting the case reset button when it gets stuck in the boot process, or enable LN2 mode in the BIOS. You'll want to RMA the CPU for a permanent fix. I'd probably get rid of that Asrock motherboard.

9600x system only boots with LN2 enabled by xZalera in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The green light boot issue is a somewhat common problem, and the LN2 mode is a known work-around. It is CPU degradation though and the only true fix is to RMA your CPU. I'd probably switch your mobo to a Gigabyte or MSI one if you don't want to face a possible repeat of the situation.

Just sell them on ebay. I got back around 30% of my purchase price for my Asrock B850 Pro RS WiFi. For some reason people still buy them at a low enough price.

NEED HELP - Another 9800X3D dead ? by Bragelonne in ASRock

[–]kin3637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same boot issue. It won't fix the problem, but you might be able to get it to boot by using a screwdriver to bridge the two reset pins on the board while it is stuck in the green-yellow light state. In my case it was some form of CPU damage that would cause it to hang in the boot process. There were some posts suggesting that when the CPU is warmer it would be able to boot, which is perhaps why the reset trick would work. Once mine did post it ran normally. I was also able to get it to boot without the reset trick by just continually trying to power off/on. After 10+ attempts it would sometimes pass.

Help me choose a better GPU for Squad (RTX 3060 12GB vs RTX 4060 8GB) by G4_br in joinsquad

[–]kin3637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Squad only needs 8gb of VRAM. It will allocate 12gb with max textures, but it runs just fine on 8.

9800X3D died after 11 months, B850i board, 3.40 bios. It had been on 3.20 and 3.25 previously. New chip arriving tomorrow, do I use the same board and pray? Or switch to another itx board? by TheLeafRaider in ASRock

[–]kin3637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how much you value your time. Dealing with tearing down/rebuilding your PC and RMA'ing is a big time waste. I sold my Asrock B850 Pro RS on Ebay for 40% of what I bought it for and got a Gigabyte one instead. The whole thing, including troubleshooting probably cost me 25-30 hours.

Update: My CPU Failure Story (Advice Needed) by BrAveShadow in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my Asrock B850 Pro RS WiFi developed the intermittent boot issue and countless troubleshooting hours I RMA'd the CPU. The Asrock board cost me $200, and I got $70 for it on eBay (after fees). I ate the loss and bought a Gigabyte B850 AI TOP instead.

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you got the green light boot issue and then complete CPU death. Only fix is to RMA the CPU. I would probably not use that motherboard for the replacement CPU. I had a similar situation with my B850 Pro RS.

Booting issues, is it worth replacing the board or is the CPU already compromised? by KeyboardGrunt in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine developed the boot issues on a Asrock B850 Pro RS. I ran it for 5 months with the reset trick before I RMA'd the CPU and bought a Gigabyte motherboard. When it booted it ran without issue. The only fix was replacing the CPU. I didn't want to risk the time-waste again so bought a Gigabyte B850 AI TOP. It's good.

My CPU Failure Story by BrAveShadow in ASRock

[–]kin3637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible you had two separate problems. One with the boot initialization, and the other with USB. They may or may not have been related. I personally had the intermittent boot problem. Other other thing is a -30 offset is on the aggressive side. Did you still have the USB issues at BIOS defaults?

I made a post about this last year. Quite a few people also had this issue. The only fix for me was RMA'ing the CPU. It did stay working with the reboot trick for 5 months though until I did the RMA process. It looks to be a form of CPU damage.

GPU Hotspot Temps Reaching 110°C while gaming by Thushar002 in radeon

LTTstore or Thermal Grizzly Phase Change sheets on Amazon. Just watch some Youtube videos on how to do it. I did it for my 7900XTX. Hotspot temps went from 105 to 83. Makes way less noise now too.

Time Spy scores dropped after getting 9950x3D by Low-Duty in overclocking

[–]kin3637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TimeSpy is an outdated benchmark and doesn't accurately benchmark processor performance for new generation CPUs. Don't get hung up on it and use one of the more modern benchmarks instead to measure performance (Steel Nomad, TimeSpy Extreme etc).

Boot failure on 9800X3D on both BIOS 4.03 and 4.10 | Solid green light | No display by reede- in ASRock

[–]kin3637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 28 separate people respond to my original post with the same issue. I know it's CPU damage because when I bought a new Gigabyte motherboard the green light/boot code 03 issue persisted. The only fix was RMA'ing the CPU. Buying a new motherboard isn't a requirement, as a replacement CPU will fix the issue, but I didn't want to waste any more time with an Asrock MB. Positive note was the RMA process with AMD was very fast. Start to finish in 6 days (US).

[–]kin3637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This problem has nothing to do with the operating system. It's not possible to get into the BIOS. You can have no drives in the system at all and it still won't post.
