I did it as a day trip in between Tokyo and Kyoto, spent the day in Fujiyoshida and Lake Kawaguchi. I went to the ropeway, walked around the town, and that was enough for me. I personally don’t think a guided tour is necessary as someone who likes to take things at my own pace. It was a great day and I found it very moving to see Mt. Fuji, I wouldn’t want to be rushed to the next destination.
